Space-related source flux output requests
This table list the available output result sets that you can request from the thermal solver in Space Systems Thermal.
| Output request type | Result set in Post Processing Navigator | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Solar and Planet View Factors | Albedo View Factor — Elemental | View factor from Sun light reflected of the planet/Earth. |
| Earth View Factor — Elemental | View factor from Earth radiation. | |
| Solar View Factor — Elemental | View factor from direct Sun radiation. | |
| Absorbed Fluxes | Absorbed Radiative Flux, FMH — Elemental | Radiative flux that is absorbed by the satellite surface coming from free molecular heating. |
| Absorbed Radiative Flux, ALBEDO — Elemental | Radiative flux that is absorbed by the satellite/object surface coming from the Earth/planet due to atmospheric and surface reflectivity. | |
| Absorbed Radiative Flux, PLANET IR — Elemental | Radiative flux that is absorbed by the satellite surface coming from infrared (IR) radiation due to the planet’s temperature. | |
| Absorbed Radiative Flux, SUN — Elemental | Radiative flux that is absorbed by the satellite/object surface coming from solar radiation either directly to the element or reflected from other elements. | |
| Absorbed Radiative Flux, [Radiative Heating simulation object name] — Elemental | Radiative flux that is absorbed by the elements selected in each Radiative Heating simulation object coming from all sources. | |
| Incident Fluxes | Incident Radiative Flux, FMH — Elemental | Radiative flux that is received by the satellite surface coming from free molecular heating. |
| Incident Radiative Flux, ALBEDO — Elemental | Radiative flux that is received by the satellite/object surface coming from the Earth/planet due to atmospheric and surface reflectivity. | |
| Incident Radiative Flux, PLANET IR — Elemental | Radiative flux that is received by the satellite surface coming from infrared (IR) radiation due to the planet’s temperature. | |
| Incident Radiative Flux, SUN — Elemental | Radiative flux that is received by the satellite/object surface coming from solar radiation either directly to the element or reflected from other elements. | |
| Incident Radiative Flux, [Radiative Heating simulation object name] — Elemental | Radiative flux that is received by the elements selected in each Radiative Heating simulation object coming from all sources. | |
| Transmitted Fluxes | Transmitted Radiative Flux, FMH — Elemental | These radiative fluxes have always a value of 0.0 because the free molecular heating fluxes cannot be transmitted through a surface. |
| Transmitted Radiative Flux, ALBEDO — Elemental | Radiative flux that is transmitted through the satellite/object surface with transparent materials coming from the Earth/planet due to atmospheric and surface reflectivity. | |
| Transmitted Radiative Flux, PLANET IR — Elemental | Radiative flux that is transmitted through the satellite surface with transparent materials coming from infrared (IR) radiation due to the planet’s temperature. | |
| Transmitted Radiative Flux, SUN — Elemental | Radiative flux that is transmitted through the satellite/object surface with transparent materials coming from direct solar radiation. | |
| Transmitted Radiative Flux, [Radiative Heating simulation object name] — Elemental | Radiative flux that is transmitted through the elements with transparent materials selected in each Radiative Heating simulation object coming from all sources. | |
| Reflected Fluxes | Reflected Radiative Flux, FMH — Elemental | Radiative flux that is reflected by the satellite surface coming from free molecular heating. |
| Reflected Radiative Flux, ALBEDO — Elemental | Radiative flux that is reflected by the satellite/object surface with transparent materials coming from the Earth/planet due to atmospheric and surface reflectivity. | |
| Reflected Radiative Flux, PLANET IR — Elemental | Radiative flux that is reflected by the satellite surface with transparent materials coming from infrared (IR) radiation due to the planet’s temperature. | |
| Reflected Radiative Flux, SUN — Elemental | Radiative flux that is reflected by the satellite/object surface with transparent materials coming from direct solar radiation. | |
| Reflected Radiative Flux, [Radiative Heating simulation object name] — Elemental | Radiative flux that is reflected by the elements with transparent materials selected in each Radiative Heating simulation object coming from all sources. |
Note:
All result sets are elemental results computed at element’s center of gravity.
All listed result sets except the view factor result sets are displayed under the Time Invariant node in the Post Processing Navigator when these values are constant over the complete transient run.
Results sets marked with ALBEDO or SUN are generated when you have a Orbital Heating or Solar Heating Space simulation object in your solution.
Results sets marked with FMH are generated when you have a Orbital Heating simulation object in your solution. When you specify time-varying quantities for defining heat flux in the Free Molecular Heating simulation object, the software outputs free molecular flux results only at the times you specified in the Free Molecular Heating dialog box. These time data override the results sampling settings you specify on the Transient Setup page in the Solution dialog box.
Results sets marked with PLANET IR are generated when you have a Orbital Heating simulation object in your solution.
