Correlation Details View subpanel (correlation solution process)

The Correlation Details View subpanel, in the Simulation Navigator, displays additional information for correlation nodes you select in the Simulation Navigator.

Modes details

When you select the Modes [#] nodes under the Correlation node in the Simulation Navigator, the following information is displayed in the Correlation Details View subpanel. The number of rows that are displayed match the number in the square brackets.

Column name Description
Mode Indicates the mode identifier.Clear the check box to exclude a mode from the correlation.
Frequency Indicates the undamped frequency of the selected mode. The mode produces a resonance in the structure if excited at or near this frequency.

The following commands appear when you right-click one or more modes in the Correlation Details View subpanel.

Icon Command name Description
Activate Includes the selected modes in the correlation.
Deactivate Excludes the selected modes from the correlation.

Node Map details

When you select Node Map [#] node under the Correlation node in the Simulation Navigator, the following information is displayed in the Correlation Details View subpanel. The number of rows that are displayed, excluding any rows that contain unmapped nodes, match the number of node pairs in the square brackets, which is based on the limit that is set in the Customer Defaults for correlation.

Column name Description
Ref. Nodes Indicates the node number and name for the test reference model.
Work Node Indicates the node number for the analysis model.
Distance Indicates the distance between reference and work nodes.

The following commands appear when you right-click one or more node pairs in the Correlation Details View subpanel.

Command name Description
Clear Deletes the node pair from the node map.
Show All Unmapped Nodes Displays the unmapped nodes at the bottom of the list.

Mode Pairs details

When you select Mode Pairs [#] nodes under the Correlation node in the Simulation Navigator, the following information is displayed in the Correlation Details View subpanel. The number of rows that are displayed match the number in the square brackets.

Column name Description
Pair Indicates the mode pair identifier.Clear the check box to exclude a mode pair from the correlation.Note: Mode pairs affect only the CoMAC computation.
Ref Indicates the mode identifier of the reference solution.
Frequency Indicates the undamped natural frequency of the selected reference mode.
Wrk Indicates the mode identifier of the work solution.
Frequency Indicates the undamped natural frequency of the selected work mode.
MAC Indicates the MAC value of the mode pair.
X-Ortho Indicates the magnitude of the cross-orthogonality value of the mode pair.
Freq. % Error Indicates the error percentage between the work and reference frequencies for each mode pair.
Residual % Error Appears when the mode clusters are defined.Indicates the residual error percentage of the mode pair. A high percentage indicates an uncertainty in the computation of the work mode shape.

The following commands appear when you right-click one or more mode pairs in the Correlation Details View subpanel.

Icon Command name Description
Side-by-Side Display Opens adjacent viewports that display results of the work and reference solutions for the specified mode pair. This command is useful when you want to view displacement or acceleration results side-by-side.
Side-by-Side Animation Opens adjacent viewports that display animations of the work and reference solutions for the specified mode pair. This command is useful when you want to view the synchronized animations of displacement or acceleration results side-by-side.
Plot Mode Shapes Opens the Plot Mode Shapes dialog box that lets you set the options to display and animate the reference and work mode shapes in a graphics window.
Return to Model Ends the side-by-side display of results or animations in adjacent viewports, and displays the model in a single viewport.
Activate Includes the selected mode pairs in the correlation.
Deactivate Excludes the selected mode pairs from the correlation.

Mode Clusters details

When you select Mode Clusters [#] nodes under the Correlation node in the Simulation Navigator, the following information is displayed in the Correlation Details View subpanel. The number of rows that are displayed match the number in the square brackets.

Column name Description
Cluster Indicates the mode cluster identifier.
Ref. Modes (Freq) Indicates clustered reference mode identifiers and, in parenthesis, the associated undamped natural frequencies for each mode.
Work Modes (Freq) Indicates clustered work mode identifiers and, in parenthesis, the associated undamped natural frequencies for each mode.
Status Displays the status of each mode cluster:Up-to-DateIndicates that reference and work modes in the cluster are active and available.Out-of-DateIndicates that at least one of the reference or work modes in the cluster are either inactive or unavailable. These modes are identified with an asterisk in the Ref. Modes and Work Modes columns.

FRF Pairing details

When you select the FRF Pairing [#] node under the Correlation node in the Simulation Navigator, the following information is displayed in the Correlation Details View subpanel. The number of rows that are displayed matches the number of pairs shown in the square brackets.

The node IDs are replaced by node names if these are available from the test model or from the selection recipes in the Simulation file.

Column name Description
Pair Indicates the FRF pair identifier.
[Ref] In. Node Indicates the input (excitation) node ID of the reference FRF.
[Ref] In. DOF Indicates the input node degree of freedom (DOF) of the reference FRF.
[Ref] Out. Node Indicates the output (response) node of the reference FRF.
[Ref] Out. DOF Indicates the output node degree of freedom (DOF) of the reference FRF.
[Ref] Function Indicates reference function string.
[Work] In. Node Indicates the input (excitation) node ID of the work FRF.
[Work] Out. Node Indicates the output (response) node ID of the work FRF.
Out./In. Measure Indicates the measure type of the FRFs.

Note:

The sign of the FRF DOF is always displayed as positive in the FRF Set and in the Correlation Details View subpanel. The software internally multiplies the real and imaginary components of the imported FRF having DOFs with negative signs by -1 for correlation computations.

The following commands appear when you right-click one or more FRF pairs in the Correlation Details View subpanel.

Icon Command name Description
PlotReference FRF****PlotWork FRF****PlotOverlay FRFs Opens the Plot FRF dialog box that lets you set the options to create an XY plot of the reference FRF, work FRF, or both for the selected FRF pairs. The graph is generated when you click OK in the dialog box.
ApplyReference FRF****ApplyWork FRF****ApplyOverlay FRFs Creates an XY plot of the work FRF, reference FRF, or both for the selected FRF pairs using the settings specified previously in the Plot FRF dialog box.
Plot FRACFRAC****Plot FRACFRAC Color Bar Opens the Plot FRAC dialog box that lets you set the options to create an XY plot or color bar plot of a Frequency Response Assurance Criterion (FRAC) for the selected FRF pairs. The graph is generated when you click OK in the dialog box.
Apply FRACFRAC Creates a FRAC XY plot using the settings specified previously in the Plot FRAC dialog box.
Apply FRACFRAC Color Bar Creates a FRAC color bar plot using the settings specified previously in the Plot FRAC dialog box.
Select All Selects all FRF pairs in the Correlation Details View subpanel.
