Note dialog box
| Origin | |
|---|---|
| Specify Location | Lets you specify the location of the note by clicking in the graphics window. Note: Clicking this command and then clicking in the graphics window to position the note ends the note creation process and initiates the creation of a new note. Do not do this until you have completed all other configuration options. |
| Alignment | Auto Alignment Specifies the alignment of the note relative to another note or to a snap point in the model. Associative—Maintains an association between the note and an existing note or snap point. If you align the note with an existing note and then move the aligning note, the associated note moves as well. Likewise, if you associate the note with a snap point and the geometry changes, the position of the note changes also.If you align the note with an existing note and subsequently move the associated note rather than the aligning note, the association and alignment are broken. Non-associative—Lets you align the note with an existing note or snap point, but does not associate the two. If you move the aligning note or if the geometry changes, the note does not move. Off—You cannot align the note with another note or with a snap point. Note: You can align notes that are parallel to the screen only with other notes that are parallel to the screen. You can align non-parallel notes only with other non-parallel notes. You cannot align notes that have a locked size and position with any other notes. In addition, you cannot associate a locked note with a snap point, although you can use a snap point to set the position of a locked note. Align Horizontal or Vertical Appears when Auto Alignment is set to Associative or Non-associative. Lets you align a note that does not have a locked size and position with an existing note. To do this, drag the note near the existing note. When the target symbol appears, move the note vertically or horizontally to the desired position, and then click in the graphics window. The alignment of the note is affected by the selection in the Anchor list for both notes. For example, if Anchor is set to Middle Center for the aligning note and Top Center for the new note, then the top left corner of the new note is aligned with the horizontal or vertical center of the existing note. Position at Snap Point Appears when Auto Alignment is set to Associative or Non-associative. Lets you align the note with a snap point in the model. The alignment of the note is affected by the selection in the Anchor list. For example, if Anchor is set to Top Left, then the top left corner of the note is aligned with the snap point. When Auto Alignment is set to Associative, if the geometry changes, the position of the note changes automatically. For a note that has a locked size and position, you can position the note at a snap point only if Auto Alignment is set to Non-associative. Anchor Specifies the anchor location of the text when you position the note in the graphics window. For example, when Anchor is set to Middle Center, the cursor appears in the vertical and horizontal center of the note as you move it. If you position the note using a snap point, the anchor location coincides with the snap point. |
| Orientation | Appears when the Display Parallel to Screen check box is cleared in the CAE Note Preferences dialog box, or when the note being edited is not defined as parallel to the screen. Plane Specifies the plane in which the note appears: XC-YC Plane—Parallel to the XC-YC plane of the work coordinate system. XC-ZC Plane—Parallel to the XC-ZC plane of the work coordinate system. YC-ZC Plane—Parallel to the YC-ZC plane of the work coordinate system. Model View—Parallel to the default view of the part. Last User Defined—Parallel to the last plane that was manually defined for this model. User Defined—Parallel to a plane that you define.Even if the geometry that you use to define the plane is deleted, suppressed, or unloaded, the note continues to appear in the defined plane. When you select one of the plane options, you can also click a plane in the displayed coordinate system to change it. Specify CSYS Appears when Plane is set to User Defined. Specifies the coordinate system to use for orienting the note. For example, with a dynamic coordinate system, you can adjust the angle of the note. Note: If you change the orientation of the note, you might not be able to see the note until you reorient the model. To make the note parallel to the screen: In the Settings group, click Settings . Click Display. Select the Display Parallel to Screen check box. Click Close. The Orientation group no longer appears. |
| Leader | |
| Appears when the Lock Size and Position check box is cleared in the CAE Note Preferences dialog box, or when you edit an existing note and the Lock Size and Position check box is cleared in the Note Settings dialog box for the note.If multiple leaders exist, the settings apply to the leader selected in the list table. If the Apply Style Settings to All check box is selected, any changes to the Type list or the options in the Style subgroup are applied to all leaders. | |
| Select Terminating Object | Lets you select the object that the note connects to with a leader line. This object can be a point, mesh point, node, element, mesh, load, or constraint. You can select the mesh, load, or constraint in the Simulation Navigator as well as the graphics window. The leader terminates at the geometric center of the selected object. If the geometry changes, the leader adjusts accordingly. If you delete the terminating object, the leader remains displayed and continues to terminate at the previous location. Tip: If the leader terminates at an interior object, a portion of the leader might not be visible. Choose View tab→Visibility group→See-Thru All to make the model opaque so that you can see the entire leader. |
| Create with Jogs | Appears when you create or edit a note that is not parallel to the screen and select New in the leader list table.Enables you to add jogs to a new leader. |
| Specify Jog Position | Appears when you select the Create with Jogs c heck box, or when you edit a note with an existing leader and select the leader in the leader list table. Available when the leader has a terminating object.Lets you specify the location of one or more jogs for a new or selected leader by clicking the location in the graphics windows or dragging an existing jog position to a new location.Specifying a jog position temporarily locks the note in place, but you can reposition it when you click Specify Location. Tip: To specify multiple jog positions for a single leader, begin with the one closest to the terminating object. |
| Type | Specifies the leader type. Plain The leader is a plain line. All Around The leader displays an All Around symbol (a circle) at the bend in the leader. |
| Style | Arrowhead Specifies the kind of arrowhead or other symbol to display at the end of the leader. You can also choose None to display the leader as a plain line. Stub Side Specifies where the leader originates relative to the note text: Left—The leader originates on the left side of the text. Right—The leader originates on the right side of the text. Inferred—The leader originates on either the left or right side of the text, depending on where the note is positioned relative to the terminating object. Stub Length Sets the length of the portion of the leader between the note text and the location where the line bends in order to connect to the terminating object. You can also set the stub length by clicking and dragging the stub arrow in the graphics window. |
| Add New Set | This feature is not currently available. |
| List | Displays a list of leaders from the note to the model, including the leader ID, type, and number of jogs.To create a new leader, click New in this list, click Select Terminating Object, and then select the terminating object. New appears in this list only if the note is not parallel to the screen. To edit an existing leader, click the leader in this list and make any desired changes in the Leader group. Tip: If the Apply Style Settings to All check box is selected, any changes to the Type list or the options in the Style subgroup are applied to all leaders. To edit only the selected leader, clear that check box before making your changes. To delete a leader, select the leader in the list and then click Remove . |
| Apply Style Settings to All | Applies any changes that you make in the Type list or Style subgroup to all leaders. If you clear this check box, changes to those settings apply to only the selected leader. |
| Associated Objects | |
| Select Object | Lets you associate the note with one or more nodes, elements, or polygon edges, faces, or bodies in the graphics window. When you select the note in the graphics window, all associated objects are highlighted. If you delete an associated object, the note is not deleted. Tip: If you have trouble selecting an object, in the Top Border bar, set Selection Scope to Entire Assembly. |
| Text Input | |
| Edit Text | Clear Deletes all of the note text. Cut Cuts the selected text and places it on the clipboard. Copy Copies the selected text and places it on the clipboard. Paste Pastes the cut or copied text at the cursor location. Delete Text Attribute Removes the text attribute (such as bold or an applied font) relative to the cursor location. When there are multiple attributes, this command removes the innermost attributes. For example, if the word Attention is both bold and italic, this might be indicated in the text box in the following way, with |
| Formatting | Font Specifies the font to use for the selected text. Windows fonts are preceded by . NX/Simcenter 3D fonts are preceded by . Only NX/Simcenter 3D fonts support the Bold and Italic attributes. If you apply multiple fonts to the same text, the font attribute closest to the selected text is used. Tip: You can set the default font and other lettering attributes in the CAE Note Preferences dialog box. Size Specifies the size of the selected text relative to the value of Height in the Note Settings dialog box. For example, if Height is set to 3.5 and this value is set to 2, then the height of the selected text is 7. To access the Note Settings dialog box, click Settings in the Settings group. Bold Available when the font name is preceded by . Applies the bold attribute to the selected text. Note: To control the thickness, select the appropriate option in the Bold Thickness list in the Settings group before you apply this attribute. Not all fonts support the bold attribute. Italic Available when the font name is preceded by . Applies the italic attribute to the selected text. Note: To control the slant, set the appropriate value in the Italic Angle box in the Settings group before you apply this attribute. Underline Applies the underline attribute to the selected text. Overline Applies the overline attribute to the selected text. Superscript Applies the superscript attribute to the selected text. Subscript Applies the subscript attribute to the selected text. If any text attribute other than font or size is applied to the text at the cursor location, the corresponding button is highlighted. |
| Text Input | Sets the content of the note. This text does not wrap automatically. To add line breaks, press Enter. This box also displays codes for any manually applied font or size, text attributes, and symbols. For example, bold text might surrounded by |
| Symbols | Lets you add a symbol to the note. The available symbols vary, depending on the category that you select from the Category list. For more information, see the Symbols group section in Text (detailed) and Text Editor dialog boxes. |
| Import/Export | Insert Text from File Opens the Read Note from File dialog box so that you can select the text file to import. Any font or font size specified for the text in the file is ignored, but line breaks are imported. Save Note As Text File Opens the Save Note to File dialog box so that you can save the note as a .txt file. The note is exported as literal text, including any code used to indicate text attributes or symbols. |
| Inherit | |
| Select Note | Lets you overwrite the current note with the content and settings of a selected note.Any leader associated with the selected note is not applied to the note that you are overwriting. |
| Settings | |
| Settings | Opens the Note Settings dialog box so that you can specify values for such lettering attributes as text justification, color, and height, as well as whether the note is parallel to the screen or locked in its current size and position. Note: If the note has more than one leader, you cannot configure the note to be parallel to the screen. (The Display page does not appear on the Note Settings dialog box.)If the note has any leaders, you cannot lock the note's size and position. (The Lock Size and Position check box does not appear on the Display page.) You can set default values for several lettering and display attributes using the CAE Note Preferences dialog box. |
| Vertical Text | Displays the note as vertical text.If you clear this check box, the note is displayed as horizontal text. |
