Mapping dialog box (Thermal/Flow/SST/ESC/Multiphysics)

Type
Type Specifies the zone type that restricts the set of elements in the source model whose results you want to map to a specific set of destination nodes or elements in the target model.Thermal Association ZoneDefines a set of elements in the source model that contain temperature results, which you want to map to the target model.Transverse Gradient ZoneDefines a set of elements in the source model that contain top and bottom temperature results or temperature gradient results, which you want to map to the target model. You can define either of the following:Top and bottom elements that respectively contain top and bottom temperature results that you want to map as a transverse gradient.Multi-layer shell elements that contain transverse temperature gradient results.Note: Not available in the Simcenter 3D Multiphysics environment.Axisymmetry Association ZoneDefines a set of axisymmetric or non-axisymmetric elements in the source model that contains the temperature results, which you want to map to the target model. All elements in the zone must belong to a single plane containing one of the coordinate’s system axes (OX, OY, or OZ). The axis of symmetry must be one of these three axes. The non-axisymmetric elements that you can select are 0D, 1D, and 2D elements.Rotational Periodicity Association ZoneDefines a set of elements from a cylindrical sector in the source model that contains the temperature results, which you want to map to the target model using rotational periodicity characteristic of the model.Exclude ElementsDefines a set of elements in the source model that contains results you want to omit from the target model.Flow Association ZoneDefines a set of elements in the source model that contain pressure results, which you want to map to the target model.Note: Not available in the Multiphysics and Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal environments.
Name
Name Sets the name for the mapping constraint. Enter a meaningful name that will help you recognize the constraint when it appears in constraints for the mapping solution.
Destination Folder
Constraint Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Elements, Top Elements, Bottom Elements, Multi-Layer Elements, Axisymmetric Elements
Group Reference Applies the boundary condition to the selected group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the elements or geometry containing elements to which to apply the mapping constraint.Excluded lets you remove elements from within your selected object. The software does not apply the constraint to the excluded elements.Note: The Element Selection Filtering options are available when the Type Filter list on the Top Border bar is set to Elements.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Structural Element Thickness
This group appears when Type is set to Transverse Gradient Zone.
Thickness Option Controls how the thickness is defined for the shell elements in the target model. From Thermal ModelDefines the thickness as the physical distance between the top and bottom elements.SpecifyDisplays the Thickness Value box to let you specify the thickness.
Override Revolve Axis
This group appears when Type is set to Axisymmetry Association Zone.
Axis Specifies the axis of revolution for the axisymmetric mapping. From ElementGets the axis of revolution from the axisymmetric elements.X, Y, or ZDefines the axis of revolution as one of the three orthogonal directions of the absolute coordinate system: X, Y, or Z.
Periodicity
This group appears when Type is set to Rotational Periodicity Association Zone.
Number of Segments Sets the number of times the source sector is rotated.
Revolve Axis
This group appears when Type is set to Rotational Periodicity Association Zone.
Revolve Axis Specifies the axis of revolution of the association zone.Global Cyclic AnalysisAppears if you defined the cyclic symmetry cylindrical coordinate system in the FEM. Revolves the model around the Z-axis of the cyclic symmetry cylindrical coordinate system. User-DefinedLets you specify the axis of revolution. Use the Specify Vector options to specify the direction of revolution, and use the Specify Point options to specify the location of the axis.
