Accurate and derived peak results

In post-processing, the software automatically computes and displays derived quantities for certain results types. For the peak and number of positive crossing random results, ignore these derived quantities as they are inaccurate.

Nodal vector peak and number of crossing results

The software automatically adds a Magnitude node under some nodal results. Ignore results associated to these nodes.

The random base excitation solver or the laminate dynamics solver correctly computes magnitudes for these quantities, which are displayed in the Post Processing Navigator using the word Magnitude in the results name. For example, when you request displacement, the correctly computed magnitude results are under the Displacement Magnitude [Peak] – Nodal node.

Stress and strain tensor peak and number of crossing results

Similarly, the software automatically adds derived stress and strain component nodes when you request stress and strain outputs. For example, for stress requests, the following elemental nodes are shown:

Mode 1, 0Hz

Ignore results associated to these nodes. The random base excitation solver or the laminate dynamics solver correctly computes these derived quantities, which are displayed in the Post Processing Navigator under the following result nodes:

  • Von Mises Stress/Strain [Peak] – Elemental

  • Max Shear Stress/Strain [Peak] – Elemental

  • Min Principal Stress/Strain [Peak] – Elemental

  • Max Principal Stress/Strain [Peak] – Elemental

  • Ply Stress/Strain [Peak] – Elemental

  • Ply Von Mises Stress/Strain (MID) [Peak] – Elemental

  • Ply Max Shear Stress/Strain (MID) [Peak] – Elemental

  • Ply Min Principal Stress/Strain (MID) [Peak] – Elemental

  • Ply Max Principal Stress/Strain (MID) [Peak] – Elemental
