Groups
Create groups with the Automatic Group command
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Groups folder and choose Automatic Group.
(Optional) To restrict the meshes that the software includes in the new groups to those that you select, in the Automatic Groups dialog box, from the Mesh list, select Selected Meshes and then in the graphics window, pick the meshes.
Specify the attributes by which to group your meshes. Select the check box next to the appropriate option. To create groups of meshes that reference the same material, select the Group Meshes with Same Material check box.For example, if you have three meshes that use steel, one mesh that uses aluminum, and two meshes that use ABS, the software creates three groups. To create groups of meshes whose mesh collectors reference the same physical property table, select the Group Meshes with Same Physical Property Table check box.To create groups of meshes that have the same display color, select the Group Meshes with Same Color check box.To create groups of 1D meshes that have the same beam cross section, select the Group Meshes with Same Cross-Section check box.To create groups of meshes whose mesh collectors reference the same laminate physical property table (that is, plies), select the Group Meshes with Same Laminate check box.To create groups of meshes that have the same element family, such as 2D elements, select the Group Meshes with Same FE-Category check box.To create groups of meshes that have the same mesh collector type, select the Group Meshes with Same Mesh Collector Type check box. Examples of mesh collector types include Solid, Thin Shell, and Beam.To create groups of meshes that have the same mesh type, select the Group by Mesh Type check box. Examples of mesh types include Tetra4 and Hex8.
(Optional) To change a default group name prefix, in the Group Name Prefix box, type a replacement text string.
Click OK.The new groups appear in the Simulation Navigator.
