Post view templates
Post view templates provide a convenient way to apply multiple post view settings in a single operation. Post view templates include:
User-defined templates.
System templates.
Custom templates created for your site.
Post view templates are listed under the Templates node in the Post Processing Navigator.
Note:
Customer default settings take precedence over the default template when you create the post view.
User-defined templates
You can save your current post view as a post view template. This user-defined template contains all the current post view settings, and when you apply it to another post view, it overwrites all settings for the other post view. Some post-processing displays require significant setup. User templates can save time when you perform multiple refinements of the same model or compare results from multiple analyses.
When you create a user-defined template, the software stores the current post view as a preview image. This preview image is displayed in the Preview panel in the Post Processing Navigator when you select a template in the navigator.
System templates
The software provides a number of standard post view templates you can use to quickly apply common contour, deformation, animation, and performance settings. Unlike user templates, system templates are partial templates that do not override any additional post view settings you may have. For a list of the templates provided, see Custom post view templates.
To access the system templates:
- Choose File→Utilities→Customer Defaults→Simulation→Pre/Post→Post Processor→Other tab. Select the Load System Templates check box.
Custom templates
You can edit post view templates to define customized, partial post view templates.
Partial templates are used to apply a limited set of display options to the current post view, without overwriting other settings. For example, you could create a template that assigns specified edge, face, and contour settings, without overwriting the current results or color bar settings. For more information, see System templates.
Sharing templates
An administrator can define a library of customized templates, which can be stored on a network drive or copied to each user’s installation. You can apply these templates to the post views you create to ensure consistent and compliant post-processing displays for reports, presentations, and so on.
In the file system, the template .xml file is saved in the location the environment variable UGII_CAE_POST_TEMPLATE_USER_DIR defines. If you set this environment variable to a central location, the templates can be shared by multiple users.
Where do I find it?
In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click a post view and choose Save Template.
