Define an MPC with multiple DOF values for independent nodes

This procedure requires that you have a mesh on your model.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Manual Coupling . Note: In Abaqus or ANSYS, select Manual Coupling from the Simulation Object Type list.

  2. (Simcenter Nastran only) In the Manual Coupling dialog box, select MPC from the Type list.Note: In Abaqus, select *EQUATION. In ANSYS, select CE.In MSC Nastran, select MPC or MPCY.

  3. In the Dependent Coupling Parameters group, click Dependent and select the dependent node, point, mesh point, or vertex.

  4. From the Component Number list, select the DOF to constrain.

  5. Enter a Coefficient value. The coefficient is a term by which the nodal DOF is multiplied.

  6. In the Independent Coupling Parameters group, click Independent and select one or more independent nodes, points, mesh points, faces, edges, curves, or vertices.

  7. Select Unique DOF Values.

  8. Click Nodes .

  9. In the Edit By Node dialog box, click in a cell and enter a DOF coefficient value for the node. Tip: When you click in a cell, the selected node is highlighted in the model.To enter the same value for a column of nodes, right-click and choose Edit DOFx Column. Enter a value for the DOF coefficient, then click in another location in the list. The column is populated with the value that you enter.

  10. Click OK.

  11. (ANSYS or the MSC Nastran MPCY type only) In the Manual Coupling dialog box, Constant Term group, enter a value for the right-hand term in the equation.

  12. Click OK.The constraint is applied to the model.
