Import a layup

The imported layup must have been created with the same part geometry that is meshed in this software.

  1. Choose one of the following commands:Laminates tab→Fibersim group→Import Fibersim Layup to import plies from a Fibersim CEE XML file, Fibersim CEE HDF5 file, or a part that contains Fibersim data.Laminates tab→CATIA group→Import CATIA Layup to import plies from a .layup file or an XML file that contains CATIA ply groups.

  2. In the Import Settings group, select polygon faces or 2D elements upon which the layup data is imported.

  3. Set the search distance value to help the software match the imported ply boundaries with the Pre/Post 2D mesh elements in one of the following ways:In the Search Distance box, enter a value.Click Automatic Search Distance to let the software compute the value.

  4. (Optional) To control the mapping of imported plies, modify the options in the Ply Mapping Options subgroup.

  5. In the Import Options group, from the Source list, select the type of file that you want to import.

  6. Open the imported file in one of the following ways:In the Import File box, enter the path and name of the file that contains the imported layup.Click Browse to navigate to the location of the imported file.

  7. (Optional) Specify the name for the imported layup. Select the Overwrite Imported Layup Name check box and type the name in the Layup Name box.

  8. Click OK.
