Override Set — Thermal Properties dialog box (Thermal/SST/ESC/Multiphysics)
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Type | Specifies the type of thermal property that is overridden. |
| Name | |
| Name | Sets the name of the Override Set — Thermal Properties simulation object. Description opens an editor in which you can type a description for the simulation object. |
| Destination Folder | |
| Simulation Object Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Specify Field | Appears when any thermal property is set to Field.Lets you select or create a field that defines the thermal property as a function of time.See Specify Fields options below |
| Region | |
| Group Reference | Lets you override a group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select the entities whose thermal properties will be overridden.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected objects. |
| Magnitude | |
| Thermal Conductivity | Appears when Type is set to Thermal Conductivity.Sets the isotropic thermal conductivity. For more information, see Additional magnitude options. |
| Thermal Conductivity | Appears when Type is set to Orthotropic Thermal Conductivity.Sets the orthotropic thermal conductivity.ExpressionSets the new thermal conductivity constant values for the selected entities in the X (K1), Y (K2), and Z (K3) directions.FieldThe Specify Field option lets you select or create a thermal conductivity field for the X (K1), Y (K2), and Z (K3) directions that varies with time or temperature. The Scale Factor option sets a multiplying factor to uniformly increase or decrease any of the X (K1), Y (K2), and Z (K3) directions of the thermal conductivity. |
| Specific Heat | Appears when Type is set to Specific Heat.Sets the specific heat value. For more information, see Additional magnitude options. |
| Electrical Resistivity | Appears when Type is set to Electrical Resistivity.Sets the electrical resistivity value. For more information, see Additional magnitude options. |
| Emissivity | Appears when Type is set to Emissivity.Sets the emissivity value. For more information, see Additional magnitude options. |
| Solar Absorptivity | Appears when Type is set to Solar Absorptivity.Sets the new solar absorptivity value for the selected entities.Note: This option is available only for Advanced solution types. For more information, see Additional magnitude options. |
| Multi-Layer Shells | |
| Specify Layer to Apply to | Appears when Type is set to Thermal Conductivity, Orthotropic Thermal Conductivity, Specific Heat, or Electrical Resistivity.Lets you select the layers to which the overridden properties are applied. |
| Apply to | Specifies the layers to which the overridden property is applied.Note: The Top layer is the shell layer which normal is in the same direction as the element normal. The Bottom layer is the designated layer 1.Top, Middle, and Bottom apply the overridden property to the top, middle, or bottom layers of the selected elements. All applies the overridden property to all layers of the selected elements.Specify lets you specify an individual layer to which to apply the overridden property. |
| Layer Number | Appears when Specify Layer to Apply to is set to Specify.Applies the overridden property to the layer with the specified ID number. |
| Shells Layers | |
| Apply Override Set to | Appears when Type is set to Emissivity or Solar Absorptivity.Top and Bottom, Top, and Bottom apply the overridden property to the specified sides of the selected entities. |
