Expressions
Create a user-defined expression
Choose Tools tab→Utilities group→Expressions .
In the Expressions dialog box, from the Type list, select the expression type. For example, to create an expression that evaluates to a numerical value, select Number.
From the Dimensionality list, select the dependent domain. For example, if the expression you are creating represents pressure, select Pressure.Note: For a dimensionless dependent domain, select Unitless.
From the Units list, select the units for the expression.
In the Name cell, type the name for the expression.
To enter the formula for the expression, you can:Enter it directly in the Formula cell.Right-click the Formula cell and choose Edit. The Edit dialog box opens. If the formula for the expression is invalid, the software issues an error message. If you receive an error message such as a divide by zero error, see Specifying the default value for variables and plug-in functions for a possible solution.Tip: To utilize features like auto-complete, Function Builder to select functions, Conditional Builder to create logical structures, among others, enter the formula for the expression from the Edit dialog box.Tip: As a best practice, do not add a measurement directly to the formula for an expression. Instead, create an expression for the measurement and then add the expression for the measurement to the formula for the expression.
Click OK.
