Manual coupling (Simcenter Samcef)
Use the Manual Coupling constraint command to manually create either multi-point constraint equations (MPCs) or coupled degrees-of-freedom between selected nodes.
Types of Manual Couplings
| Type of manual coupling | Description |
|---|---|
| Coupled DOF | Lets you define Samcef .LIA coupled degrees-of-freedom (DOF) between a single independent node and any number of dependent nodes. For more information, see the Samcef .LIA command in the Simcenter Samcef solver documentation. |
| MPC, MPC ZX, or MPC XY | Lets you define Samcef .MCE CNLI equation element: ∑i Ci * qi = 0.where qi are the DOF and Ci their related coefficients. In Samcef linear analyses, the DOF are always expressed in terms of displacements. In the Samcef Nonlinear analysis, the DOF are by default expressed in terms of the nodes positions. You can express the DOF in terms of displacements by selecting Displacements in the DOFs expressed as list. The displacement of a node is computed as the difference between its current position and the its initial coordinates defined in the model. For more information, see the Samcef CNLI element in the Simcenter Samcef solver documentation. |
