Automatic numeric formatting criteria

When you choose Automatic, the software uses the following criteria to determine an appropriate numeric format:

Absolute difference between color bar levels Resulting numeric format Example
< 0.001 Scientific notation with three decimal places. 1.235E–003
0.001 to < 0.01 Fixed-point notation with four decimal places. 1234.5678
0.01 < 1 Fixed-point notation with three decimal places. 1234.568
1 to < 1000 Fixed-point notation with two decimal places. 1234.57
1000 or greater Scientific notation with two decimal places. 1.23E+003

Note:

When the results are listed in the Post Processing Navigator and not in a contour plot with the color bar levels available, the software uses the absolute value.
