Element Copy and Translate dialog box

Type
Type Controls whether the software translates or copies and translates the selected elements.Element Translate translates selected elements and their nodes to a new location.Element Copy and Translate copies and translates selected element faces into new 2D elements.Element Coat creates 1D elements along selected element edges.
Element Type
Element Type Controls the part of the element the software copies and translates.Any Element translates or copies and translates any combination of selected element edges, faces, and solid elements.Element Edges translates or copies and translates the selected element edges.Element Faces translates or copies and translates selected element faces.Solid Elements Only translates or copies and translates solid (3D) elements.
Elements
Select Object Select Element Edges Lets you select the elements to translate. If Type is set to Element Coat, lets you select the element edges along which to create the 1D elements.
Element Labels Available when Type is set to Any Element or Solid Elements Only.Lets you add elements to the selection.Use a space or comma to separate your entries.Use a colon or a dash to add a range of element labels. For example, enter 1:10 or 1-10 to add all the element labels from 1 to 10.Use colons to add an incremented range of element labels. For example, enter:1:9:2 to add element labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.1:10:2 to add element labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10.10:1:-2 to add element labels 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.Press enter or click Select to add your entries. To edit your selection, click Edit Element Selection .
Number of Copies
Number of Copies Available when Type is set to Copy and Translate.Specifies the number of copies to create from the selected set of elements.
Direction
Direction Specifies the method to use to translate or to copy and translate the elements. With Orientation translates or copies and translates the elements a specified distance relative to a selected coordinate system.Along Vector translates or copies and translates the elements a specified distance along a selected vector.Element Normal translates or copies and translates the element faces a specified distance along their normals. This option is only available if you select Element Faces from the Type list.Point to Point translates or copies and translates the elements from a source location to a target location.
CSYS Available if you select the With Orientation option.Specifies the type of coordinate system relative to which to translate the elements. If you choose Cartesian, Cylindrical, or Spherical, either use the CSYS Dialog box or click one of the coordinate system commands to specify the coordinate system.See CSYS dialog box for more information.
Specify Vector Available if you select the Along Vector option.Lets you specify the vector along which to translate the elements.
Reverse Direction Reverses the vector's direction.
Source Point/Target Point Available if Direction is set to Point to Point.Lets you specify the source point from which to translate the elements and the target point to which to translate the elements.
Distance
Distance Controls the amount the software translates the elements.Per Copy translates each copy of the elements the specified Distance.Total translates all copies of the elements a total of the specified Distance.
DX, DY, DZDR, DTheta, DZDR, DTheta, DPhi If you select the With Orientation option, lets you specify the distance to translate the elements along each axis.Note: The available options depend upon the type of coordinate system you selected from the CSYS list.
Element Properties
Type Appears if you select Element Edges or Element Faces from the Type list.Specifies the type of element to create.
Destination Collector
Automatic Creation Select Automatic Creation to have the software automatically create a new destination collector for the current mesh. If you select this option, the software creates a collector using the default physical properties and inherits the material properties of the idealized part.Clear the Automatic Creation check box to choose an existing mesh collector from the Mesh Collector list.
Mesh Collector Lets you select an existing collector. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. See Mesh collectors for more information.
Destination Mesh
Destination Mesh Controls the mesh node into which the software places the new elements.Create New creates a new mesh node on the Simulation Navigator. The software places the new elements into that new node.Add to Existing places the new elements into an existing mesh node on the Simulation Navigator.
Element Label
Label Options Controls how the software assigns labels to the new elements.Label and Increment specifies a starting label and incrementOffset offsets the starting label for the new elements by a specified value.
Label Specifies the starting label for the new elements.
Increment Specifies the increment the software should use for each successive element label.
Offset Specifies an offset to apply to the starting label for the new elements.
Mesh Properties
Export Mesh to Solver Available when Type is set to Element Faces.Controls whether the software includes the 2D mesh data in your solver input file when you export or solve the model. If you plan to use this 2D mesh as only a seed mesh for a 3D mesh, you should clear this check box.
Preview
Preview Preview automatically previews the appearance of the translated elements once you have specified the minimum options necessary.
Show Result Show Result previews the translated elements based upon your current selections.
