Laminate Composites > Defining plies and a stacking sequence
Right-click commands for plies
The following commands appear when you right-click a ply in the Laminate Modeler, Solid Laminate Modeler, or Layup Modeler dialog box.
| Command name | Description |
|---|---|
| Create New Ply | Creates a new ply for the layup. |
| Create Layup Link | Available only in the Layup Modeler dialog box.Opens the Link Layup dialog box where you can select the existing layups, which will be linked to the parent global layup, to create a sublaminate. |
| Create Ply Extension | Available only in the Layup Modeler dialog box.Extends existing plies, along with their draping data, into layups other than their layup of origin. |
| Create New Cohesive Layer | Available only in the Layup Modeler dialog box for Simcenter Nastran, Simcenter Samcef, and Simcenter 3D Multiphysics solver environments.Creates cohesive layers between plies in your global layup. You can use this command to model delamination. |
| Delete | Deletes the selected plies. |
| Select All→Plies | Selects all the plies. Use this command to define common ply properties. |
| Select All→Groups | Selects all the groups. Use this command to define common group properties. |
| Select All→Layup Links | Available only in the Layup Modeler dialog box.Selects all the layup links. |
| Flip Ply Groups | Available if two groups or layup links are selected. Flips the order of the two selected groups or layup links. |
| Unlink Layup | Breaks link to the selected layup. |
| Group | Creates a new ply group using the selected plies. |
| Ungroup | Ungroups the selected group. |
| Failure Envelope | Available only in the Laminate Modeler dialog box.Displays the failure envelope for the laminate using the ply failure theory defined in the Ply Failure Theory list. |
| Solid Property→Layered | Available only in the Laminate Modeler and Layup Modeler dialog boxes.Exports the inflated plies as separate layered properties. |
| Solid Property→Homogeneous | Available only in the Laminate Modeler and Layup Modeler dialog boxes.Exports the inflated plies as unlayered, homogeneous properties with equivalent orthotropic materials. You can use this option for balanced and symmetric laminates. Exporting a subset of 3D laminates and global plies as homogeneous rather than layered properties may shorten solution time. |
| Undo | Reverts the last action. |
