Radiation output requests
This table list the available output result sets that you can request from the thermal solver in Thermal/Flow, Electronic Systems Cooling, Space Systems Thermal, or Multiphysics.
| Output request type | Result set in Post Processing Navigator | Description |
|---|---|---|
| View Factor Sums | View Factors Sum — Elemental | Sum of the view factors for radiating elements. |
| Environmental View Factors | Environmental View Factors — Elemental****Environmental Gray View Factors — Elemental | Elemental view factors and gray body view factors for elements radiating to and from the radiative environment. In reports, the radiative environment is called SPACE. |
| Apparent Temperatures | Apparent Temperature — Elemental | The apparent radiative temperature of an element is:Tapparent = ε0.25 (Topp + Tabs) — Tabsε is the emissivity of the element, Topp is its Oppenheim element’s temperature, and Tabs is the absolute temperature constant. |
| Radiances | Radiance — Elemental | Total radiative flux leaving the surface, including emission and reflection. Radiative flux is calculated in power per unit area. The radiance of an element is:Radiance = σ x (Topp + Tabs)4 / πσ is the Stefan-Boltzmann constant, Topp is its Oppenheim element’s temperature, and Tabs is the absolute temperature constant. |
| Fluences | Fluence — Elemental | Total energy input into the element, which is accumulated over time:t is time, q is the power or heat load from both radiative and non-radiative sources, and A is the element area. |
| Net Radiative Fluxes | Net Radiative Flux — Elemental | Net radiative flux leaving the element from infrared exchange. The net flux is due to radiative exchange from gray or non-gray emission of elements in radiation view factor requests. A positive value means a net radiation out of the element. |
| Radiosity Fluxes | Radiosity Flux — Elemental | Sum of elements’s emitted and reflected infrared flux. The radiosity flux is the radiosity from radiative exchange in radiation view factor requests. |
| Irradiance Fluxes | Irradiance Flux — Elemental | Incident infrared radiation on an element. The irradiance flux is the incoming flux from radiative exchange between elements in radiation view factor requests. |
Note:
All result sets are elemental results computed at element’s center of gravity.
The view factor result sets are displayed under the Time Invariant node in the Post Processing Navigator when these values are constant over the complete transient run.
