Replace base FEM component with a Simcenter Samcef superelement
In Pre/Post, you can replace individual components in your assembly FEM with external Simcenter Samcef superelements to define a system model.
Follow these steps to replace the base FEM component in an assembly FEM with a binary (*.sdb) Simcenter Samcef superelement.
Be sure that the target assembly FEM is the displayed part.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click a component FEM and choose Edit Representation.The FE Model Component Representation dialog box is displayed.
From the Representation list, choose Samcef Superelement.
Define the Samcef Superelement Name.
From the Take Nonlinearities into Account list, decide whether to take nonlinear effects into account. Choosing Yes from the Take Nonlinearities into Account list is useful only if you use the superelement in a Nonlinear analysis.
From the Damping Type list, choose the damping to add. You can choose between a Viscous, Hysteretic Stiffness, or a Hysteretic Flexibility damping. For more details, see Damping (Simcenter Samcef).
In the Superelement file group, enter the full path and file name of the file containing the superelement database, or click Browse to navigate to and select the file. For more details, see Selecting the superelement creation database (Simcenter Samcef).
In the Units group, optionally correct the superelement units type. For more details, see Superelement unit types (Simcenter Samcef).
From the Display list, select the superelement display type. For more details, see Simcenter Samcef superelement graphical representation in an assembly FEM.
Click OK.
You can replace multiple instances of a component in the assembly FEM with the same superelement.
