Plotting results in a model with superelements (Simcenter Samcef)

In a model that contains super elements, when you have loaded the results, you can plot residual results in three ways:

  • Plot the residual result. The superelement will be displayed in its simplified representation.

  • Plot with Loaded Super Elements will plot the results alongside the contour of the superelement for the particular result.

  • Overlay the results in the same Post View. For more details, see Overlay post views.

Plotting residual results without loaded super elements

When you simply Plot a result, you will display the main model with that result, and the superelements are displayed either in their Simplified Representation or in their Symbolic Representation, according to the representation you choose during the creation solution and/or the representation you switch to in the Post View.

For more details on the representations and the way you can choose them, see Managing superelement representations (Simcenter Samcef).

Plotting residual results alongside loaded superelements

With Plot With Loaded Super Elements, you plot the result alongside the contour of the superelement for that result type. The initial default behavior of display is:

  • If the result is recovered for the superelement, the FE model along with its contour results and displacement will be displayed in the viewport using the Full Representation.

  • If the result of the superelement is not recovered for that particular result type:

  • The Simplified Representation will be displayed by default.Note: By default, Simcenter Samcef superelement results contain displacement data written out for Simplified Representation view. If you plot displacement results, you will view the simplified model with color contours. If the Simplified Representation is not available with the system solve file, the Symbolic Representation will be displayed. If none of the representations mentioned above are available, the superelement is not represented in the post view.

You can change the superelement representations in the Post View.

Plotting results inside a superelement

When the superelement is loaded and recovered, its results will appear under the superelement node:

You can plot any of its particular result types. Only the superelement with its results will be displayed in this case.
