Velocity dialog box/Enforced Velocity Constraint (Abaqus)

Type
Type Specifies how the velocity constraint is definedMagnitude and Direction Defines a velocity constraint with a displacement magnitude and a single direction.Normal Defines a velocity constraint with a displacement magnitude and a +/– direction normal to the selected geometry or element faces. Components Defines the velocity constraint magnitude for each of the six degrees of freedom (DOF). Translational Components – Field Note: Not available for Abaqus.Defines the velocity constraint magnitude for the translational DOF. You can map the field directly to a global or Cartesian coordinate system.
Destination Folder
Constraint Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Model Objects
Group Reference Lets you apply the constraint to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the geometry or FE entities on which the constraint will be applied. ExcludedLets you remove individual entities from within the selected object.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Direction
Specify Vector Appears when Type is set to Magnitude and Direction.Defines the direction of the constraint. For more information, see Vector dialog box.
Reverse Direction Appears when Type is set to Magnitude and Direction.Reverses the direction of the vector.
Velocity CSYS Appears when Type is set to Components or Translational Components – Field.Selects the coordinate system used to apply the constraint. Existing Uses the displacement coordinate system currently defined for the selected node(s) or associated geometry.
Local Lets you create or select a local coordinate system. For more information, see CSYS dialog box.
Magnitude
Velocity Lets you define the magnitude of the velocity constraint. For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Degrees of Freedom
DOF1 through DOF6 Appears when Typeis set to Components or Translational Components – Field.Defines the magnitude of the velocity constraint for each DOF.Expression Lets you define the velocity magnitude for each DOF with a constant value or expression. FieldLets you define a varying velocity magnitude. For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Specify Field Appears when a DOF is set to Field.Lets you select or create a field. The field defines the velocity magnitude. For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Scale Factor Defines a scale factor for the velocity magnitude for each DOF.
Card Name Displays the name of the solver card for the constraint.
