Specifying units for scalar values
When setting scalar values for parameters in your model, you can easily specify the appropriate units of measure by selecting them from the DesignLogic units list. The units that appear in the list vary, depending on the parameter. For example, the units for pressure include Pascals, psi, atmospheres, and bars. In addition, you can use the Units Manager to define custom units. For more information, see Units Manager.
Using the DesignLogic options list, you can also convert the specified value to a different unit of measure. For example, you could convert a pressure value of 15 lbf/in2 to 103421.4 Pa. This feature is especially useful when the specifications for your analysis problem are not provided in the units consistent with your model.
(1) DesignLogic units; (2) DesignLogic options
This option is available throughout Pre/Post whenever you set a scalar value with units in a dialog box, including but not limited to:
Material property tables
Physical property tables
Global and local element lengths
Element- and mesh-associated data
Loads, constraints, and simulation objects
