Manually creating contact elements
You can create CONTA174 and TARGE170 elements in a FEM file.
In the FEM file, create the 2D mesh. For structural analyses, create a mesh of SHELL181 or SHELL281 elements. For thermal analyses, create a mesh of SHELL131 or SHELL132 elements.
Create the appropriate real constants and KEYOPTS modeling objects to specify additional options for the source and target contact elements. For example, create a CONTA174 ET modeling object to specify options for the source CONTA174 elements, such as the contact algorithm to use.
In the Mesh Associated Data dialog box, specify the appropriate KEYOPTS and real constants modeling objects.Note: You must specify the same real constants modeling object for both the source and target contact elements. For structural contact, you cannot specify a Static Friction Coefficient when you create the contact elements in the FEM file.
