Improving performance for narrow beam cross sections

For beam sections with narrow shapes, the default beam section evaluation quality settings result in a performance issue.

To improve performance, set the UGII_CAE_BEAM_SECTION_MESHING_OVERRIDES = toler, max_elems, max_iters environment variable to have a larger tolerance value and smaller element count.

  • The default values are:toler = 0.001max_elems = 500000max_iters = 0

  • If you set the max_elems or max_iters to zero, there are no limits on the number of elements or number of iterations.

  • Values that are skipped in the environment variable will use the default.

For example, set UGII_CAE_BEAM_SECTION_MESHING_OVERRIDES = 0.01, 10000 increases the tolerance and decreases the element count without limiting the iterations.
