Edit layout state data references
Each layout state has a list of data references that refer to objects in the source FEM or Simulation file. For example, a displayed result can have the coordinate system as one of its data reference objects. You can edit the data references in the Edit and Apply Layout State dialog box or in the layout (.lsx) or session (.rsfx) file.
Edit the data reference of a layout state in the Edit and Apply Layout State dialog box
In the Simulation Navigator or Post Processing Navigator, in the Layout State node, right-click a layout state and choose Edit and Apply. The Edit and Apply Layout State dialog box contains the list of data references in the saved layout state. For more information, see Edit and Apply Layout State dialog box.If the software cannot find the data for the data references, it lists the status as Unresolved. Unresolved data references
To edit a data reference, in the List of Data References table, click an entry. You can hold Ctrl and click to select more than one entity if they are of the same type, such as all post-processing scenarios. Options that correspond to the type of data reference selected appear at the bottom of the dialog box. For example, if you click an entry for a contour plot, the Reference Result group appears. If you selected more than one data reference, only options common to both data references appear. If the data references are not of the same type or the displays of the references are different, the software displays the message, Incompatible Data References, and does not display options for editing. Note: No data references are created for layout states saved for a pre-processing model in a single viewport.
Depending on the type of entity, select from the available options to change the data reference. For example, change the solution associated with a contour plot.
Click OK to restore the layout state. For more information, see Data references in the Edit and Apply Layout State dialog box.If the references are not resolved, an Information window appears with the reason for the issue, and the pre-processing model appears in place of the saved layout state.
Select to discard or overwrite the layout state with the incomplete display.
Edit the data reference of a layout state in a layout or session file
Open the layout (.lsx) or session (.rfsx) file in a text editor such as Notepad.Depending on the result saved in the layout state, the appropriate data reference strings are referenced in the specified format in the .lsx file. For example, if you plot and export a color bar graph from an OP2 file that contains waterfall data, the format is:
For more information on the data reference string format, see Data references in the LSX file. Edit the data references.Using the color bar graph example from step 1, you can edit the destination path and specify a different path to a different .op2 file. For example, change the path to a different .op2 file that contains order cut data.<
Save the file and apply it.For more information, see:Apply and save layout state filesImport and export session files The layout state displays the new data reference.
