Material Library Manager dialog box

Option Description
Material List Filters the list of materials in the dialog box.Preferred Material—Available when a preferred material is specified for the part file. For more information, see Specify a preferred material for a part or FEM.Library Materials—The listed materials are those that are in the selected libraries.Local Materials—The materials are the material definitions that are saved in the model or the FEM file.
Libraries Filters the list of materials in the dialog box, when the Material List option is set to Library Materials.The customer defaults control the visible libraries.Default Material Library lists material definitions included in the sample material library. Site MatML Library lists material definitions in the specified “Site” custom material library XML file. User MatML Library lists material definitions in the specified “User” custom material library XML file.
Materials Lists materials available for you to select.
Name The name of the material definition. To sort materials, click a column heading.To configure columns, see Configure columns in the material list.
Used —The material is used in the model.—The material is available in the local file, but it is not used.—The material is used in a component of the assembly. You also see this icon when the Simulation file is the displayed part and the material is assigned in the FEM (because the FEM file is considered a component of the Simulation file).—The material is used in an assembly component that is not fully loaded.
Category The material category, such as Metal or Plastic.
Type The material type, such as Isotropic or Orthotropic.
Label Material identification number.
Location Displays the file name of the part file, FEM file, Simulation file, or AFEM in which the local material is saved.
Library Displays the name of the MatML library file in which the material definition is saved.
Locked Available only when you add this column to the Materials list.—The material definition can be changed. You can only modify local materials.—The material definition cannot be modified.

The following options are available when you right-click a material in the Materials list.

Option Description
Information Opens an Information window that lists material properties for the material.
Inspect Lets you view a material definition in the material dialog box. Material properties are read-only.
Export Material(s) to a Library Exports the selected materials to the XML file specified in the Target Material Library file dialog box or to multiple XML files specified in the Target Material Library Directory dialog box. For more information, see Export Material(s) To Library dialog box and Export a material to a custom material library.
Edit Library Material(s) Available only when you select a custom material. Lets you edit the selected material definition and define whether the property is configurable. For more information on configuration, see Define configurable material properties (site MatML Library owner).
Delete Library Material(s) Available only when you select a custom material.Deletes the selected material definition from the material library.
