Create a 4D field
This procedure shows how to create a table field from the Simulation Navigator.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Fields node and choose New Field→Table.
On the Independent Domain page, from the Independent list, select the 4D independent domain type.In the dialog box, the independent domain table lists the independent variables.
(Optional) Change the units for an independent variable. To choose a new unit, right-click the units cell for the variable.
Specify the coordinate basis for the spatial independent domain.From the Type list, select the coordinate basis.Depending on the spatial independent domain you select, the coordinate basis options can include the global coordinate system, local coordinate systems, and parametric coordinate systems.If you select any coordinate basis option other than Global, use the available commands to specify the local or parametric coordinate system.To apply the table field across the entire spatial domain, from the Subtype list, select Cloud. To apply the table field only over a surface, select Surface.For more information, see Create a surface spatial map.If you select Surface, use the available commands to specify the surface over which to apply the table field.
On the Dependent Domain page, from the Dependent list, select the dependent domain.
(Optional) Change the units for the dependent variable. On the Definition page, in the data points table, right-click the column heading for the dependent variable and choose Change Units for Variable→[new unit].
On the Definition page, enter or import the tabular data.For more information, see Defining tabular data.
On the Table Options page, select an interpolation method from the Interpolation list.For more information, see Table field interpolation and extrapolation options.
Click OK to create the field.
