| Modeling Object | |||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Sets the name of the modeling object. | ||||||||||||
| Label | Sets a unique integer for the modeling object.This label also appears in the Modeling Objects Manager dialog box, and you can filter the objects listed in that dialog box by their label. | ||||||||||||
| Pressure-Overclosure | |||||||||||||
| Pressure-Overclosure Relationship | Specifies the type of mechanical contact interactions. Mechanical interactions normal to the surface are influenced.Hard ContactMinimizes the penetration of the slave surface into the master surface at the constraint locations and prohibits the transfer of tensile stress across the interface.LinearSpecifies a linear pressure-overclosure relationship where the surfaces transmit contact pressure when the negative clearance, or overclosure, between them, measured in the contact (normal) direction, is greater than zero. You must specify the slope of the pressure-overclosure relationship, k, in the Slope of Linear Pressure-Overclosure box. This option corresponds to the PRESSURE-OVERCLOSURE=LINEAR parameter for the *SURFACE BEHAVIOR keyword.ExponentialSpecifies an exponential (soft) contact pressure-overclosure relationship where the surfaces begin to transmit contact pressure when the clearance between them, measured in the contact (normal) direction, reduces to c0 zero. The contact pressure transmitted between the surfaces then increases exponentially as the clearance continues to diminish. You specify the clearance at zero contact pressure, the contact pressure at zero clearance, and optionally, maximum stiffness (kmax). This option corresponds to the PRESSURE-OVERCLOSURE=EXPONENTIAL parameter for the *SURFACE BEHAVIOR keyword.TabularSpecifies a contact pressure that is a piecewise linear (tabular) function of the clearance between the surfaces. You specify data pairs (pi, hi) of pressure versus overclosure.This option corresponds to the PRESSURE-OVERCLOSURE=TABULAR parameter for the *SURFACE BEHAVIOR keyword. | ||||||||||||
| Hard Contact Parameters | |||||||||||||
| Appears for Abaqus Structural analyses. | |||||||||||||
| Enforcement Method | Appears when Pressure-Overclosure Relationship is set to Hard Contact.Specifies the enforcement method.Default****Augmented LagrangeSpecifies the augmented Lagrange method for enforcement of the contact constraint. The augmented Lagrange method uses the same stiff approximation as the penalty methods, but also uses augmentation iterations to improve the accuracy of the approximation.Penalty LinearApproximates the hard pressure-overclosure behavior to improve solver efficiency. The penalty stiffness is constant so the pressure-overclosure relationship is linear. Penalty NonLinearIncreases the penalty stiffness linearly between regions of constant low initial stiffness and constant high final stiffness, resulting in a nonlinear pressure-overclosure relationship. DirectEnforces a specified pressure-overclosure behavior for each constraint, without approximation or use of augmentation iterations | ||||||||||||
| Penalty Stiffness | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Augmented Lagrange or Penalty Linear.DefaultSpecifies the penalty stiffness as 1000 times the representative underlying element stiffness. User-SpecifiedSpecifies a user-defined linear penalty stiffness. | ||||||||||||
| Stiffness | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Augmented Lagrange, Penalty Linear, or Penalty Nonlinear, and Penalty Stiffness or Final Nonlinear Penalty Stiffness is set to User-Specified. | ||||||||||||
| Stiffness Scale Factor | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Augmented Lagrange or Penalty Linear.Sets a user-defined penalty stiffness. | ||||||||||||
| Clearance at Zero Contact Pressure | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Augmented Lagrange, Penalty Linear, or Penalty NonLinear.Sets the clearance at which the contact pressure is zero. | ||||||||||||
| Final Nonlinear Penalty Stiffness | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Penalty NonLinear.DefaultSpecifies the penalty stiffness as 1000 times the representative underlying element stiffness. User-SpecifiedSpecifies a user-defined linear penalty stiffness. | ||||||||||||
| Final Nonlinear Stiffness Scale Factor | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Penalty NonLinear.Specifies the nonlinear penalty stiffness scale factor. | ||||||||||||
| Initial/Final Nonlinear Stiffness Ratio | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Penalty NonLinear.Specifies the ratio of initial penalty stiffness over the final penalty stiffness. | ||||||||||||
| Upper Quadratic Limit Scale Factor | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Penalty NonLinear.Specifies the scale factor for the upper quadratic limit. | ||||||||||||
| Lower Quadratic Limit Ratio | Appears when Enforcement Method is set to Penalty NonLinear.Specifies the ratio that defines the lower quadratic limit. | ||||||||||||
| Clearance at Zero Contact Pressure | Specifies the clearance at zero contact pressure, c0. | ||||||||||||
| Linear Pressure-Overclosure | |||||||||||||
| Slope of Linear Pressure-Overclosure | Appears when Pressure-Overclosure Relationship is set to Linear.Specifies the slope of the pressure-overclosure relationship, k. | ||||||||||||
| Exponential Pressure-Overclosure | |||||||||||||
| Appears when Pressure-Overclosure Relationship is set to Exponential. | |||||||||||||
| Clearance at Zero Contact Pressure | Specifies the clearance at zero contact pressure, c0. | ||||||||||||
| Contact Pressure at Zero Clearance | Specifies the contact pressure at zero clearance. | ||||||||||||
| Maximum Stiffness | Appears for Dynamic Explicit analyses.(Optional) Select Specify to enter the maximum stiffness, kmax or Default to use the default.By default, the software sets kmax to infinity for kinematic contact and to the default penalty stiffness for penalty contact. | ||||||||||||
| Tabular Pressure-Overclosure | |||||||||||||
| Appears when Pressure-Overclosure Relationship is set to Tabular. | |||||||||||||
| Pressure vs. Overclosure Data/ Specify Field | Lets you select an existing field or construct a new field of data points (pi, hi) of pressure versus overclosure (negative clearance). For example, create a field with the following values:Row IDx (mm)pressure (N/mm^2(MPa))*1-0.001020.0012530.0223750 | Row ID | x (mm) | pressure (N/mm^2(MPa))* | 1 | -0.001 | 0 | 2 | 0.001 | 25 | 3 | 0.02 | 23750 |
| Row ID | x (mm) | pressure (N/mm^2(MPa))* | |||||||||||
| 1 | -0.001 | 0 | |||||||||||
| 2 | 0.001 | 25 | |||||||||||
| 3 | 0.02 | 23750 | |||||||||||
| Direct Enforcement Method | |||||||||||||
| Appears when Pressure-Overclosure Relationship is set to Linear, Exponential, or Tabular. | |||||||||||||
| Direct Enforcement of Contact Constraints | Sets the direct enforcement of the pressure-overclosure behavior for each constraint. | ||||||||||||
| No Separation Parameter | |||||||||||||
| Appears when Pressure-Overclosure Relationship is set to Hard Contact, Linear, or Tabular. | |||||||||||||
| Prevent Separation After Contact | Uses the contact pressure-overclosure relationship that prevents surfaces from separating once they come into contact. For example, use the no-separation relationship with the rough friction model to model non-intermittent, rough frictional contact.This option corresponds to the NO SEPARATION parameter for the *SURFACE BEHAVIOR keyword. |
