FE Model Correlation and Update
Correlation workflows
Test-analysis correlation
You require a Simulation file that contains a solution with modal, or operational shape results, or a solution with FRF results.
The following steps summarize the overall process to correlate test results with analysis results from an existing solution in the current Simulation.
| Step | Summary | Detailed help topic | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | Import test model and results. | In the Pre/Post application, import a test model with modal or FRF data in an existing analysis simulation. | Import an UNV test solutionImport an LMS test solution |
| 2. | Align test geometry with analysis geometry. | You may need to align the test geometry with the analysis geometry. | Align the reference model with the work model |
| 3. | Create the correlation solution process. | Create a correlation simulation process. Specify a test solution for the reference solution and an analysis solution for the work solution. | Create a correlation solution process |
| 4. | Manage sensors for modal correlation. | For the test solution, you can activate or deactivate sensors and its DOFs that will be used for correlation when you clone the initial sensor set.You can also generate a DOF set that matches the test sensor locations so that you can use it elsewhere in you Simulation. | Manage sensors for cloned test sensor setsCreate a DOF set that match the test sensors |
| Manage FRF sets for FRF correlation. | For the test solution, you can activate or deactivate frequency response functions that are used for the correlation. You can also display frequency response functions as an XY plot. | FRF sets | |
| 5. | Create mode pairs or FRF pairs. | The software automatically creates pairs between reference and work solutions. You can view the pairs, change the method the software uses for mode pairing, and export them to external file. | Update mode pairsFRF pairing |
| 6. | Analyze correlation results. | For a modal correlation solution process, you can display different correlation metrics to evaluate the degree of correlation between the work and reference solutions, and export them to Excel and CSV files. For an FRF correlation solution process, you can plot work and reference FRFs, separately or overlayed on one graph, to evaluate the degree of correlation between the work and reference solutions. | Display correlation metrics as 2D matrix plotsExport correlation metric resultsFRF pairing |
Analysis-analysis correlation
The following steps summarize the process you should follow to correlate two analysis solutions.
Note:
Analysis-Analysis correlation is not supported for FRF results.
| Step | Summary | Detailed help topic | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | Create or insert a reference solution. | In the Pre/Post application, create or insert an analysis solution as the reference solution for correlation. This analysis solution contains modal results. | Insert an analysis solution for correlation |
| 2. | Create the correlation solution process. | Create the correlation simulation process. Specify an analysis solution for both the reference and work solutions. | Create a correlation solution process |
| 3. | Create mode pairs. | The software automatically creates mode pairs between reference and work solutions. You can view the pairs and change the method the software uses for pairing. | Update mode pairs |
| 4. | Post-process work and reference solution modes and mode pairs. | You can display different correlation metrics to evaluate the degree of correlation between the work and reference solutions, and export them to Excel and CSV files. | Display correlation metrics as 2D matrix plotsExport correlation metric results |
