Create and publish reports
Tip:
Before you can use a report template, you or your system administrator must import its associated report commands into the report command libraries in the Report Command Manager. If a command is not in a library when you select to use a template, the Information window appears stating that the software could not find the command. For more information see, Import report commands to a library.
Synchronize the report commands associated with the report template to ensure that you have the latest version. For more information, see Change and synchronize report templates.
Create a report
You can use the file browser to select any .docx file as a template in a user or site location.
Choose Home tab→Solution group→Create Report .Templates in either your user or site location appear depending on your preferences.
Select a template, and click OK. The Report node appears in the Simulation Navigator with the template information in the Template Items node and the User Items node where you can additional items.
Fill out the report:In the Template Items node, right-click items marked with an asterisk and enter the required information. When you enter the required information, a check mark appears. The report writer automatically generates the items without asterisks when you publish the report. In the User Items node, add additional text and images. To add an image (snapshot or stored image), right-click User Items and choose Images Group. Right-click theImages Group node that appears and choose either Capture Image to add a snapshot or Add Image to add a saved image. For more information about managing images, see Manage report images.Tip: To view an image that was previously added to a report item, right-click the image item and choose View Image.To display a text editor where you can add or edit text, right-click a text item and choose Edit or, right-click an image, and choose Edit Caption.Tip: To view text previously added to a text item, place the mouse over the text item.Tip: To view only items that require your input, right-click the Report node and choose Hide Template Items Needing No User Input.
Publish a report
Right-click the report node in the Simulation Navigator and choose Publish Report.
Type a file name for the report and click OK. The report is stored in the report folder in the part folder.Depending on your preferences, an application, such as Microsoft Word, launches and displays the published report.
Finalize the report in the application for layout, style, and editing, and optionally add more content, such as electronic signatures or table or data from Microsoft Excel. The report writer publishes tables in standard grid style, as shown in the figure, and you may want to format them after publishing the report.
Rename a report
Right-click the report node in the Simulation Navigator and choose Rename.
Enter a new name for the report in the Simulation Navigator.
Delete optional items in a report
You can only delete items that you added under the User Items node of a report. Items in the Template Items node cannot be deleted because they are required parts of the report template.
To delete all items, in the Simulation Navigator, under the report node, right-click the User Items node and choose Delete All.
To delete individual items, in the Simulation Navigator, under the report node, right-click the item in User Items node and choose Delete.
