Determining signal processing attributes

When creating a data source in scenario-based post-processing, the software reads the signal processing attributes directly from the results file, including:

  • Spectrum scaling

  • Correction mode

  • Amplitude and energy correction factor

  • Acoustic weighting

If a file format does not represent the signal processing attributes directly, the software determines the attributes based on information it obtains from the file, using the following set of assumptions. All other attributes remain unset.

Function class

  • Frequency-dependent data:For the FRF domain, the Function class is set to FRF.For the PSD domain, the Function class is set to PSD.For the cross-power domain, the Function class is set to Cross-power.For the auto-power domain (first and second domain are the same), the Function class is set to Auto-power.For all other types of data, the Function class is set to Spectrum.

  • For time-dependent data, the Function class is set to Time.

  • Otherwise, the Function class is set to Unknown.

Spectrum format

  • If the file contains auto-power, cross-power, or PSD data, the Spectrum format is set to Power.

  • If the file contains FRF data, the Spectrum format is set to Linear.

  • For spectrum/time data:If the dependent variable is power, the Spectrum format is set to Power.Otherwise, the Spectrum format is set to Linear.

  • In all other cases, the Spectrum format is set to Unknown.

Spectrum scaling

  • For auto-power, cross-power, PSD, and spectrum data, the Spectrum Scaling is set to Peak.

  • For time, FRF, and all other cases, the Spectrum Scaling is set to Unknown.

Correction mode

  • For auto-power, cross-power, PSD, and spectrum data, the Correction mode is set to amplitude corrected.

  • For time, FRF, and all other cases, the Correction mode is set to Unknown.

Weighting

  • For auto-power, cross-power, PSD, spectrum, and FRF data, the Weighting is set to None.

  • For time and all other cases, the Weighting is set to Unknown or Unset.
