Fluid Penetration Pressure dialog box (Nastran)

Use this dialog box to define a fluid pressure load that is restricted by contact pressures in your solution.

Type
Type list Specifies whether the pressure is applied to element edges or faces.
Name
Name Sets the name of the load. The name appears in the Load Container and the Information window.
Description Sets the description of the load. The description appears in the Information window. You can use Cut , Copy , and Paste commands to copy and paste the description.
Destination Folder
Simulation Object Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which to store the simulation object. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical list of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Fluid Path Starting Points
Group Reference Lets you apply the fluid path starting points to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the geometry or FE entities where fluid pressure may start. Fluid pressure is applied at the starting points when the contact pressure is below the contact pressure tolerance.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Excluded Lets you remove individual entities from within the selected object.
Potentially Wetted Surface
Region Lets you select the Region that defines the potentially wetted surface. Fluid pressure is applied to element faces or edges in this region when their contact pressure is below the Contact Pressure Tolerance and they are connected to a fluid path starting point by other elements in this region that have contact pressures below the tolerance.Select an existing region or click New Region to create a new region. See Working with reusable regions.
Magnitude
Fluid Pressure Sets the magnitude of the fluid pressure. For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Properties
Contact Pressure Tolerance Sets the magnitude of the contact pressure tolerance.
Wet Region Definition Sets the method for determining contact status between the wetted source and target regions. The contact status determines which element faces or edges in the wetted source and target regions are loaded with the pressure.Note: This option applies to SOL 402. It has no effect on SOL 401.Contact-Based MethodUses a standard contact method for matching the elements in the source region to the elements in the target region. This method is suitable when the source and target meshes are aligned and symmetrical, or when the tangential displacement between the source and target regions is large.Topology-Based MethodUses a combination of a standard contact method and a projection method for matching the elements in the source region to the elements in the target region. This option is useful when the source and target meshes are not aligned or when the meshes are not symmetric. Selecting Topology-Based Method ensures that pressure loads on the source and target regions are equivalent.Note: The Topology-Based Method is not suitable for large, tangential displacements.
