Create a table of fields

This procedure shows how to create a table of fields from the Simulation Navigator.

1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Fields node and choose New Field→Table of Fields.

2. On the Independent Domain page, from the Independent list, select the independent domain type.In the dialog box, the independent domain table lists the independent variables.

3. (Optional) Change the units for an independent variable. To choose the new unit, right-click the units cell for the variable.

4. On the Dependent Domain page, from the Dependent list, select the dependent domain.

5. On the Definition page, in the data points table, enter a value in the top available cell of the independent variable column.The value you enter represents the value of the independent variable that is held constant for the field that you will specify in the next step. For example, suppose you chose Temperature, Strain as the independent domain and Stress as the dependent domain. On the Definition page, the table has temperature and Field columns. The fields you enter in the Field column represent stress-strain isotherms; that is, stress-strain curves that correspond to constant temperatures. The values you enter in the temperature column are the constant temperatures.

6. In the same row, right-click the corresponding cell in the Field column and choose an option to select or create a field.To select an existing field, choose Select Field. The Fields dialog box opens.To create a formula field, choose Create Formula. The Formula Field dialog box opens.To create a table field, choose Create Table. The Table Field dialog box opens.To create a linked field, choose Create Linked. The Linked Field dialog box opens.Click OK.

7. Repeat steps 4 – 6 to select or create additional fields.

8. Click OK.
