Plotting contribution from panels, structural modes, fluid modes, and MATVs
Post-processing scenarios are available to let you plot contributions from panels, structural modes, fluid modes, and Modal Acoustic Transfer Vectors (MATVs). The scenarios are identical except for the panel, mode, and RPM selection variables and the type of supported nodes.
The Panel Contribution post-processing scenario displays the individual vibrations of structural panels and the extent to which they contribute to the acoustic response on the acoustic and microphone nodes.Note: When the data source contains MATV results from the pre-solver and modal participation factors from Motion, you can visualize frequency and mode-dependent contribution vectors by using the Contribution Vectors - MATV definition of this scenario.
The Structural Mode Contribution and Fluid Modes Contribution post-processing scenarios display the contribution of a given structural or acoustical mode to the response at a given node and degree of freedom. For the Fluid Modes Contribution scenario, you can display active, reactive, and total acoustic power.
The MATV Contributions post-processing scenario displays the contribution of a given MATV to the response at a given node and degree of freedom.Note: This scenario appears when both of these data sources are present:An MATV response results file that contains acoustic pressure and MATV outputs.A file that contains modal participation factor loads.
You can plot contribution results for displacement, velocity, acceleration, pressure, power, and intensity results. In an ATV response solution, you can also plot Equivalent Radiated Power (ERP) results per panel using the Equivalent Radiated Power scenario.
You can visualize the following using the scenarios:
Total response
Projection of the selected modes/panels contribution to the total response, to get only the in-phase part
The number of highest contributors within a frequency range and plotting them
Partial sum contributions for selected modes or panels
Contributions as percentage of total response
You can visualize these results as XY Plot and Color Bars.
Note:
To view the panel contributions, you must request:Panel Contribution output in SORT2 format through the Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests modeling object in a Simcenter Nastran vibro-acoustic analysis.Panel Contributions to Microphone Results, Panel Contribution Modal Acoustic Transfer Vectors, or Panel Contribution Acoustic Transfer Vectors output through the MATV Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests modeling object in a Simcenter 3D Noise and Vibration vibro-acoustic analysis.
To view the structural mode contributions, you must request:Modal Contribution output in SORT2 format through the Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests modeling object in a Simcenter Nastran vibro-acoustic analysis.Structural Modal Contributions to Microphone Results output through the MATV Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests modeling object in a Simcenter 3D Noise and Vibration vibro-acoustic analysis.
To view the fluid mode contributions in a Simcenter Nastran vibro-acoustic analysis, you must request Modal Contribution output in SORT2 format through the Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests modeling object.
To view the MATV contributions, you must request Modal Acoustic Transfer Vectors output through the MATV Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests modeling object in a Simcenter 3D Noise and Vibration vibro-acoustic analysis.
Parameters
The following table lists the parameters available for defining Structural Mode Contribution, Fluid Mode Contribution, and Panel Contribution post-processing scenarios. They appear in the Parameters node of the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator. For example, for the Panel Contribution scenario, you can find problematic panels by defining the frequency of interest and viewing the panels that contribute the highest to the response in that frequency range.
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Show Total Response | Displays the total response, when all the modes or panels are considered. |
| Project Contributions on Total Response | Displays the projection of the selected mode or panel contribution functions on the total response. |
| Select Top Contributors | Lets you plot a selected number of highest contributors over the complete frequency range or over a defined frequency range from all the modes or panels available. You can use this to find the modes or panels that are the highest contributors in a given frequency range. |
| Number of Contributors | Available when the Select Top Contributors check box is selected.Sets the number of the highest contributors that you want to display. |
| Frequency Range | Displays the contributions in the specified range. |
| From****To | Available when the Frequency check box is selected.Sets the low and high range in the selected units. |
| Partial Sum Contribution | Displays a single plot that contains the partial sum from the selected modes or panels. |
| Include Individual Contributions | Available when the Partial Sum Contribution check box is selected.Displays the plots for the individual modes or panels along with the plot containing the partial sum from these selected modes or panels. |
| Show Contributions as % of Response | Displays the plots for the selected modes or panels as percentage of the total response. |
| Show Vectors From Origin | Appears for all contribution vector definitions of Panel Contribution or Structural Mode Contribution post-processing scenarios.Displays all vectors from the origin of the plot in relation to the total response that is based on the phase and magnitude of each vector. |
| Convert MATV to Pressure Units | Converts MATV units (kPa*mm/(mm/s)) to pressure unit (dB). |
