Validation of a dynamic superelement (Simcenter Samcef)

During the creation of a Dynamic superelement, you can optionally validate the superelement during the creation solve (modal analysis).

During the modal analysis run, both the whole model and the superelement-only reduced model are solved.

At the end of the solve, in the Simcenter Samcef _dy.res listing file, you can browse specific tables that compare the superelement reduced model and the original whole model: you can compare the modes of both the models:

     SUPER-ELEMENT VALIDATION. COMPARISON CASE: 1     ============================================ (NR) NON REDUCED MODEL  (SE) SUPER-ELEMENT   MODE  FREQUENCY (NR) FREQUENCY (SE)  % ERROR   GEN. MASS (NR) GEN. MASS (SE)  % ERROR  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------       1   2.666563E+01   2.666575E+01   0.000      2.257796E-02   2.257760E-02   0.002       2   7.349225E+01   7.349376E+01   0.002      7.897538E-03   7.896888E-03   0.008       3   1.440379E+02   1.440516E+02   0.010      4.037639E-03   4.035787E-03   0.046

You can use the Post Processing Navigator to display some results such as displacements.

Note:

In the Simcenter Samcef _dy.res listing file, you can also browse the effective masses table that lists the masses in the three directions (X, Y, and Z) of the model.

Limitations

  • You can validate only a Dynamic superelement.

  • You can impose extra Fixed Constraint, Fixed Translation Constraint, and Fixed Rotation Constraint boundary conditions for validation purposes.The boundary conditions will be added to the Superelement Validation subcase of the solution.If you do not define extra fixed boundary conditions, a free-free behavior is considered.

  • In the Analysis page of the creation solution, you must specify the number of eigenmodes to compute for validation. You can optionally specify the lower and upper frequency bounds.

For more information, see the superelement validation chapter in the Simcenter Samcef solver documentation.
