Response Dynamics > Defining the Simcenter Nastran solution
Define Response Dynamics result types
You must specify the appropriate result types to include before solving the solution.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Subcase - Dynamics node for your response dynamics solution and choose Make Active.Note: If you are using a SOL 103 Real Eigenvalues solution (instead of SOL 103 – Response Dynamics), edit the solution, click the Case Control tab, and skip to step 3.
Right-click the Subcase - Dynamics node again and choose Edit.
In the Solution Step dialog box, next to Output Requests, click Create Modeling Object .Each tab on the Structural Output Requests dialog box represents one of the result types for which you can solve.
Click Enable
Request to enable a given result type. When you later perform a response evaluation, you will be able to evaluate responses that correspond to the result types that are enabled here. By default, only the Stress, Displacement, and SPC Forces result types are enabled when you create a structural output request. You can enable additional output types, such as Strain, as needed.Note: For most solution processes, you can use the default settings on each tab for the result types you enable. Note: The Strain Energy computed by Nastran is a squared quantity (ψT x k x ψ, where: ψ is the mode shape and k is the stiffness). Because of the mode shape squaring, linear superposition is not valid using the Nastran Strain Energy result. Therefore, the Response Dynamics solver computes the element strain energy for each selected excitation or frequency. The necessary steps are:In the Solution Step dialog box, select Displacement and Grid Point Force as a Structural Output Request for the SOL103 Real Eigenvalue or SOL103 Response Dynamics solution. The Response Dynamics solver uses Displacement and Grid Point Force to compute strain energy.Click OK.
Close the Solution Step dialog box.
Note:
If you add a Stress Stiffening or Static Offset subcase to your solution, you must repeat these steps for those subcases.
