Model centrifugal stiffening and softening in rotor dynamic analysis

  1. Create a static subcase. For instructions on how to create a static subcase, see Create a rotor dynamic solution.

  2. Select a rotating reference frame. You specify the reference frame when you define the system-wide rotor dynamics solution options. For instructions on specifying the system-wide rotor dynamics solution options, see Define system-wide rotor dynamics solution options.

  3. If necessary, activate the static subcase. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the static subcase node and choose Make Active.

  4. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object Type list→Rotor Dynamics Definition .

  5. In the Rotor Dynamics Definition dialog box, next to Rotor 1, click Create Region .

  6. In the Region dialog box, in the Parameters group, click Create Rotation .

  7. In the Rotation dialog box, in the Angular Velocity box, enter 1 radian/sec.Note: You must enter 1 radian/sec as the angular velocity in order for Simcenter Nastran to use the actual rotor speed during each solve.

  8. In the Rotation dialog box, click OK.

  9. In the Region dialog box, click OK.

  10. Repeat steps 5 through 9 for the other rotors.

  11. In the Rotor Dynamics Definition dialog box, click OK.
