Element Properties
| Physical | |
|---|---|
| Choice of Law | Lets you select the type of law for the spring damper. You can choose between Linear, Non Linear Force Displacement Law, or Non Linear Stress Displacement Law. |
| Mass | Lets you define the mass of the spring. Half of the mass is applied to each node. For more information, see the MASS parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Coefficient of Thermal Expansion | Lest you define the CTE coefficient. For more information, see the ALPHA parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| The following options appear when you select Linear from the Choice of Law list. | |
|---|---|
| Linear Stiffness KR | Lets you define the linear stiffness of the spring. For more information, see the KR parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Damping Choice | Lets you select the type of damping. You can choose between Linear Viscous, Linear Hysteretical, or Exponential Damping damping. |
| Viscous Damping C | Appears when you select Linear Viscous from the Damping Choice list.Lets you define the linear viscous damping coefficient. For more information, see the C parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Hysteretical Damping Coefficient HC | Appears when you select Linear Hysteretical from the Damping Choice list.Lets you define the linear hysteretic viscous damping coefficient. For more information, see the HC parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Compression Exponential Damping Coeff CC, Extension Exponential Damping Coeff CC, and Exponential Damping Exponent GAMA | Appears when you select Exponential Damping from the Damping Choice list.Lets you define the three coefficients of the exponential damping law.For more information, see the CC, CE, GAMA parameters of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| The following options appear when you select Non Linear Force Displacement Law from the Choice of Law list. | |
|---|---|
| Non Linear Stiffness Force NK | Lets you define the spring elastic force versus displacement function and its scale factor. For more information, see the NK parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Non Linear Damping Force NC | Lets you define the spring damping force versus displacement velocity function and its scale factor. For more information, see the NC parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Behavior (NLOI) | Lets you select the behavior law of the spring. You can choose between a nonlinear Elastic law or a Plastic law.Note: The difference is related to the reversible or irreversible characteristic of the material law. If you choose the Plastic law, the law is symmetric with respect to the origin. For more information, see the NLOI parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| The following options appear when you select Non Linear Stress Displacement Law from the Choice of Law list. | |
|---|---|
| Non Linear Stiffness Stress NK | Lets you define the spring stress versus strain function and its scale factor. For more information, see the NK parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Non Linear Damping Stress NC | Lets you define the spring damping stress versus strain velocity function and its scale factor. For more information, see the NC parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Behavior (NLOI) | Lets you select the behavior law of the spring. You can choose between an nonlinear Elastic law or a Plastic law.Note: The difference is related to the reversible or irreversible characteristic of the material law. If you choose the Plastic law, the law is symmetric with respect to the origin. For more information, see the NLOI parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
Dimensions
| Dimensions | |
|---|---|
| Spring Section | Appears when you select Non Linear Stress Displacement Law from the Choice of Law list.Lets you define the spring section area. For more information, see the S parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Unconstrained Length | Lets you define the unconstrained length of the element.By default, this length is the distance between the nodes of the element. For more information, see the L parameter of the Samcef SPRI element. |
| Compression Clearance LC, Traction Clearance LT | Lets you define the compression and traction clearances. If none of these clearances is defined, the spring is free and has no stops. For more information, see the LC LT parameters of the Samcef SPRI element. |
