Meshing > Displaying meshes and element thickness
Controlling display contention in 2D models
Use the Resolve Mesh Display Contention check box in the Model Display dialog box to control how the software handles visual interference that can occur when you display polygon faces and 2D elements simultaneously.
Select the Resolve Mesh Display Contention check box to render the polygon faces as wireframe. This option creates an optimal display for most models.
Clear the Resolve Mesh Display Contention check box to render the polygon faces as shaded. For laminate models with imported global layups, you can clear this option to assess ply mapping to both polygon faces and 2D elements.
Turning off display contention in laminate models
You can turn off display contention to view shaded polygon faces and elements simultaneously to validate that plies are mapped correctly to both polygon faces and 2D elements.
| Resolve Mesh Display Contention The highlighted region is a laminate ply that is defined using a combination of polygon faces and 2D elements. | Resolve Mesh Display Contention The same laminate ply displayed using the Show Only command. The polygon faces in the ply (including the two narrow, internal faces) display as wireframe. | Resolve Mesh Display Contention With the polygon faces shaded, you can see that all four polygon faces and the elements are mapped to the ply. |
