Assembly FEM > Connecting component FEMs
Merge coincident nodes to connect component FEMs
Choose Home tab→Checks and Information group→Duplicate Nodes .The Duplicate Nodes dialog box is displayed.
In the Merge Settings group, select Merge Component FEM Nodes.
From the Nodes to Check list, choose Displayed. The software highlights duplicate nodes. The number of duplicate found and nodes to be merged are displayed in the status line.
Examine the highlighted nodes.Check carefully to ensure that all candidate nodes are correctly identified. Note the number of duplicate nodes found in the status line. For adjacent 3D meshes, you may want to hide one or more component FEMs to ensure that nodes on coincident faces are correctly identified.
If necessary, increase or decrease the Tolerance value. The larger the tolerance value, the more duplicate node pairs the software will find. However, setting the tolerance too high can result in spurious node pairs and unexpected results.
Specify a node-label Preference:Retain high node label retains the node with highest node label.Retain low node label retains the node with the lowest node label.None does not consider node numbering when merging duplicate nodes.Choose an option that is consistent with your label management practices. The default is None.
Click Merge Nodes to merge all duplicate node candidates.
