Solving the model

In Simcenter 3D Thermal/Flow, Simcenter 3D Electronic Systems Cooling, and Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal, use the Solve command to:

  • Run the current solution. You can also run multiple solutions from this software or from the MAYA HTT Executive Menu.

  • Run a solver input XML file.

When you run a solution or a solver input file, the software performs the following actions:

  • It checks the validity of the model and displays a summary of the checks in the Information window.

  • It adds the solution to the solution stack in the Analysis Job Monitor window.

  • It creates the solver input XML file in the run directory.

  • It starts the analysis. You can monitor the run using the Solution Monitor and the Solution Control Monitor.

After the analysis is complete, the results are written to a Binary Universal (.bun) file and a Results node appears in the Simulation Navigator. Double-click the Results node to load results into the model and start post processing.

Additional solving operations

After you run an analysis, you can perform the following additional solving operations from the Solution dialog box:

  • Restart a finished transient solution to continue from the last time step.

  • Calculate additional result sets of a converged steady state or transient solution.

  • Rerun a modified solution using files calculated from a previous solution, for example, you can reuse the view factors with different materials. This saves you solution time.

Batch solving

When you solve multiple solution simultaneously, make sure that the run directory is not set to the current simulation in more than one solution. The temporary solver files use the same names for all solutions, which causes errors while solving.
