| Direct Cyclic Step Parameters | |
|---|---|
| Time of a Single Loading Cycle | Specifies the total time allowed for one loading cycle. |
| Time Incrementation | Controls how Abaqus divides the time within a step into increments in a quasi-static analyses.AutomaticSpecifies automatic time incrementation. Abaqus automatically adjusts the size of the time increments to solve the problem efficiently.FixedSpecifies fixed time incrementation. You directly control the time incrementation through the step. |
| Initial Time Increment | Available if Time Incrementation is set to Automatic.Specifies the suggested initial time increment. If you do not specify a value, Abaqus uses a default value of 0.1 times the single loading cycle period. If you select Automatic from the Time Incrementation list, this value should be a reasonable suggestion for the initial increment size. Abaqus adjusts this value as necessary. If you select Fixed from the Time Incrementation list, Abaqus uses the value you specify as the constant time incrementation value. |
| Minimum Time Increment | Available if Time Incrementation is set to Automatic.Specifies the minimum time increment allowed. If Abaqus needs a smaller time increment than this value, the solve terminates. This entry is used only if you select the CETOL Accuracy Tolerance or DELTMX: Max Temp. Change per Inc. option. |
| Maximum Time Increment | Available if Time Incrementation is set to Automatic.Specifies the maximum time increment allowed. If you do not specify a value, Abaqus does not impose any upper limit on the time increment. |
| Maximum Number of Iterations | Available if Time Incrementation is set to Fixed.Specifies the maximum number of iterations that Abaqus performs in the step. |
| Fourier Series Step Parameters | |
| Initial Number of Terms | Specifies the initial number of terms in the Fourier series. Specify a value greater than 0 and less than 500. |
| Maximum Number of Terms | Specifies the maximum number of terms in the Fourier series. Specify a value greater than 0 and less than 500. |
| Increment in Number of Terms | Specifies the increment in the number of terms in the Fourier series. |
| Optional Cyclic Step Parameters | |
| Use Fourier Coefficients Obtained in Previous Cyclic Step | Controls whether the current Direct Cyclic step is a continuation of the previous Direct Cyclic step.Select this check box to specify that this step is a continuation of the previous Direct Cyclic step. Abaqus uses the displacement solution in the Fourier series from in the previous step as the starting values for the current step.Clear this check box to reset all the displacement Fourier coefficients to zero. This allows you to apply cyclic loading conditions in this step that are very different from those in the previous Direct Cyclic step. |
| CETOL Accuracy Tolerance | Specifies the maximum difference in the creep strain increment calculated from the creep strain rates based on conditions at the beginning and on conditions at the end of the increment. CETOL Accuracy Tolerance allows you to control the time integration accuracy of the creep integration. If you select both CETOL Accuracy Tolerance and Select Time Points, Abaqus ensures that the response is evaluated at each time point specified in the Time Points modeling object.Note: If you do not select either the CETOL Accuracy Tolerance or DELTMX: Max Temp. Change per Inc., Abaqus uses fixed time stepping either with a constant time increment equal to the specified Initial Time Increment or by following the time points in the selected Time Points modeling object. |
| DELTMX: Max Temp. Change per Inc. | Specifies the maximum temperature change to be allowed in an increment. Abaqus restricts the time increment to ensure that this value is not exceeded at any node during any increment of the step. |
| Define Time Points At Which The Structure Response Will Be Evaluated | Lets you use a Time Points modeling object to specify the points in time at which Abaqus evaluates the response of the structure. Use this option to augment or supersede the defined time incrementation for a direct cyclic step by specifying particular time points in the loading history at which Abaqus should evaluate the response of the structure. This option is particularly useful if you know, prior to the analysis, the time points in the analysis at which:The load reaches a maximum or minimum value. The response changes rapidly. An example is the analysis of the heating and cooling thermal cycle of an engine component in which you typically know when the temperature reaches a maximum value. |
| Specify Time Points | Lets you select a Time Points modeling object This option corresponds to the *TIME POINTS keyword.Select an existing modeling object from the list or click Create Modeling Object to create a new one.Click Edit to edit the selected modeling object. |
