Creating a harmonic load event
Using the Harmonic Event command, you can create a harmonic load event to perform durability analysis of a model that is exposed to a harmonic excitation, described by a sine wave in a frequency domain.
For durability analysis of a harmonic load event, you must define the harmonic data source, and the scaling factor. The harmonic data source contains the data required for the dynamic analysis of the solution. The harmonic load event then points to the harmonic data sources and contains the durability parameters. You must also create a Local Stress State simulation object that uses linear projections, for example with critical planes. You can also define the load length and assign a temperature source to the load event.
Data source
Using the Harmonic Data Source command, you can create a harmonic data source, that is used to define a harmonic event, by specifying the mode set, the vibration input, and the vibration load type that the solver uses to determine the forcing frequencies. Harmonic data source supports the following load types:
Sine sweepThe load is applied in the form of a sine wave. The common frequency range of the applied loads must contain the frequency range of the sine sweep.
Sine dwellThe load is applied in the form of a peak. The common frequency range of the applied loads must contain the frequency range of the sine dwell.
A mode set is a collection of structural modes that are derived from different data sources. The modes are characterized by the natural frequency, modal damping, modal mass, and mode shape vector. You can define the boundary conditions used to compute the modes contained in the mode set.
For a vibration input, you define translational and rotational vibration inputs as free, fixed, enforced motion, nodal force, or nodal moment excitation types, and assign them to the selected nodes in specified directions.
