Post-processing > Graphing results

Create a scatter plot

You must have set up a post view of the results you want to graph and set it to the contour plot color display.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the post view and choose New Graph .

  2. From the type list, select On Path.

  3. To plot result values against coordinates along a selected coordinate system axis, from the Define By list, select Coordinate Value Of CSYS Axis. Click Select CSYS to specify a coordinate system. In the Coordinate System dialog box, from the Type list:Choose Global Csys to select the global coordinate system defined in the solver results file.Choose Working CSYS to select the working coordinate system (WCS) used by this software.Choose Selected CSYS to select a coordinate system. You can select a displayed results coordinate system in the current post view. You can select a model coordinate system in the Simulation Navigator in the CSYS folder. Choose View CSYS to select the coordinate system define by the current view orientation.Alternatively, you can manually define a coordinate system by specifying its IJK coefficients and origin. Finally, from the Select CSYS Axis list, choose an axis.

  4. For a typical scatter plot, you select nodes or elements on feature faces or through a mesh. In the Y Axis group, clear the Define By Path check box, and, in the Select Entities group, from the Method list, choose Pick From Model. From the Pick list, one of the following methods is the most useful:To select all nodes or elements in the current post view that fall within the selection box you drag, choose Box (All). To select only displayed nodes or elements in the current post view that fall within the selection box you drag, choose Box (Visible). To select all nodes or elements in the selected mesh, choose Mesh.To select all nodes or elements on a mesh face you select, choose Feature Face.To select from FE groups in the Simulation, choose Entities in Group. From the Group list, select a predefined group and click .

  5. Click OK.

  6. To display the graph in a separate graph window, in the Viewport dialog bar, click Create New Window .

  7. In the Graph Window, double-click the curve that represents the data series. From the Edit Display dialog box, double-click the curve name to display the Edit Style dialog box.

  8. From the Graph Style list, select No Line. You can also specify the marker color and data point marker style. Click OK.
