Vibro-Acoustic Output Requests dialog box (MSC Nastran)

Common options

Name and Description
Name Defines the name of the modeling object.
Label Specifies a unique numerical identifier for the modeling object.
Description Enter a brief description or click to open a text editor where you can enter a longer description.
Preview Output Requests Opens an information window where you can examine all current output requests and their options.
Enable All Output Requests Selects all output requests.
Disable All Output Requests Clears all output requests.
Common output request options
Sorting Specifies SORT1 or SORT2 options to control the format of printed output.If you choose Default, the software chooses the default option for the analysis type. For example, SORT1 is the default in static analysis, while SORT2 is the default in transient response analysis.
Output Medium Specifies PRINT, PUNCH, or PLOT options, depending on the case control command, to control the output destination for the results.If you select PRINT, the software outputs the results to the printer.If you select PUNCH, the software outputs the results to the .pch (ASCII format) file.If you select PRINT, PUNCH, the software outputs the results to the printer and the .pch (ASCII format) file.If you select PLOT, the software reports the results in the OP2 file.For more information, see Simcenter Nastran Output Files in the Simcenter Nastran User's Guide.
Random Output Medium Controls where the software writes the random analysis results.Select RPRINT to write random analysis results in the print file.Select RPRINT, RPUNCH to write random analysis results in the print file and the .pch file.Select NORPRINT, RPUNCH to disable the writing of random analysis results in the print file and write the random results to the .pch file.Select NORPRINT to disable the writing of random analysis results in the print file.
Data Format Specifies REAL, IMAG, or PHASE options, depending on the case control command, to control the format of complex output.
Random Functions Controls the functions that the software calculates for random analysis post-processing.DefaultComputes the default functions.SpecifyLets you select the random functions to calculate.Select the PSDF check box to compute power spectral density functions.Select the ATOC check box to compute auto correlation functions.Select the CRMS check box to compute cumulative root mean square functions.RALLRequests that the software calculate PSDF, ATOC, RMS, and CRMS functions.
Entity Selection Specifies ALL, NONE, or Group options, depending on the case control command, to control the location at which the software outputs results. If you choose Group, select the group that contains the appropriate nodes or elements.

Acceleration
Enable ACCELERATION Request Specifies the ACCELERATION case control command to request acceleration vector output.
Applied Load
Enable OLOAD Request Specifies the OLOAD case control command to request applied load vector output.
Cross-Power Spectral Density/Cross-Correlation Function
Enable RCROSS Request Specifies the RCROSS case control command to request computation and output of cross-power spectral density and cross-correlation functions.
Random Functions Requests the calculation of specific random functions.PSDFRequests the calculation of the cross-power spectral density function.CORFRequests the calculation of the cross-correlation function.RALLRequests the calculation of both the cross-power spectral density function and the cross-correlation function.
Displacement/Acoustic Pressure
Enable DISPLACEMENT (Acoustic Pressure) Request Specifies the DISPLACEMENT case control command to request displacement or pressure vector output.
Energy Loss Per Cycle
Enable EDE Request Specifies the EDE case control command to request the output of the energy loss per cycle in selected elements.
Energy Controls the energy that the software outputs. This option corresponds to the ENERGY describer.AVERAGERequests average energy in frequency response analyses.AMPLITUDERequests amplitude of energy in frequency response analyses.PEAKRequests peak energy, which is the sum of average energy and amplitude of energy, in frequency response analyses.
Threshold If you select this check box, you have the software suppresses energies for elements that have an energy value of less than the value you specify in the Threshold box in all output files.This option corresponds to the THRESH describer.
Force/Particle Velocity
Enable FORCE (Particle Velocity) Request Specifies the FORCE case control command to request element force or particle velocity output.
Location Specifies the location where the software computes element forces for CQUAD4 elements.CENTERComputes element forces at the center of the element only. This option corresponds to the CENTER describer.CORNER or BILINComputes element forces at the center and at the corner nodes only using the strain gage approach with bilinear extrapolation. These options correspond to the CORNER and BILIN describers.SGAGEComputes element forces at the center and the corner nodes using the strain gage approach. This option corresponds to the SGAGE describer.CUBICComputes element forces at the center and the corner nodes using cubic bending correction. This optino corresponds to the CUBIC describer.
Grid Contribution
Enable PFGRID Request Specifies the PFGRID case control command to request output of structural node (grid) contributions to the acoustic response.
Structural Nodes for Contribution Specifies the structural nodes for which to request output. ALL (Default)Outputs contributions for all structural nodes.GroupLets you select a group that contains the appropriate structural nodes.This option corresponds to the GRIDS describer.
Excitation Frequencies for Contributions Lets you specify the set of excitation frequencies at which the software processes participation factors. ALL (Default)Calculates node contributions at all frequencies.SpecifyLets you specify a set of fluid degrees of freedom for which the software processes the participation factors NONEInstructs the software not to process the participation factors for excitation frequencies.This option corresponds to the SOLUTION describer.
Entities for Contributions Specifies response contribution sets.SpecifyLets you create or select a response contribution set.NONELets you turn this output request off; useful for controlling output requests across subcases.
Grid Point Force
Enable GPFORCE Request Specifies the GPFORCE case control command to request the node (grid) force balance at selected nodes.
Kinetic Energy
Enable EKE Request Specifies the EKE case control command to request the output of the kinetic energy in selected elements.
Energy Controls the energy that the software outputs. This option corresponds to the ENERGY describer.AVERAGERequests average energy in frequency response analyses.AMPLITUDERequests amplitude of energy in frequency response analyses.PEAKRequests peak energy, which is the sum of average energy and amplitude of energy, in frequency response analyses.

MPC Forces
Enable MPCFORCES Request Select the Enable MPCFORCES Request check box to request that the software output multipoint force of constraint vectors.

Enable PFMODE (FLUID) Request Enable PFMODE (STRUCTURE) Request Specifies the PFMODE case control command that defines the form and type of modal participation factor (MPF) output for fluid and structural modes.Select the Enable PFMODE (Fluid) Request check box to request that the software output modal participation factors for the responses of acoustic fluid nodes. This option corresponds to the FLUID describer for the PFMODE case control command.Select the Enable PFMODE (Structural) Request check box to request that the software output modal participation factors for the responses of structural degrees of freedom. This option corresponds to the STRUCTURE describer for the PFMODE case control command.
Diagnostic Messages for Badly-Defined Output Sets Controls whether the software generates diagnostic messages for badly-defined output sets during participation factor computations. These badly defined sets generally produce no output.This option corresponds to the PRTMSG describer.
Sort Option Controls how the software sorts the modal participation factor output.This option corresponds to the SORT describer.Select Increasing Natural Mode Number to sort the modal participation factors by the order of increasing mode number. Select the Absolute Value in Ascending Order (ABSA) option to sort the model participation factors by absolute value in ascending order.Select the Absolute Value in Descending Order (ABSD) option to sort the model participation factors by absolute value in descending order.Select the Algebraic Value in Ascending Order (ALGA) option to sort the model participation factors by algebraic value in ascending order.Select the Algebraic Value in Ascending Order (ALGD) option to sort the model participation factors by algebraic value in descending order.
Punch File Output Data Writes selected output to the .pch file. This option corresponds to the ITEMS describer.Select ALL to output all data to the .pch file. Select Specify to select the data to output to the .pch file Select RESPONSE to write out modal participation factor data.Select PROJECTION to write out projected modal participation factor data.Select FRACTION to write out normalized projected modal participation factor data.Select SCALED to write out the projected modal participation factor divided by largest magnitude of all modal participation factors.Select MODEDISP to write out the real and imaginary part of modal participation factors.Select MODERESP to write out the magnitude and phase relative to total response of modal participation factors.
Fluid Modes for Contributions Available when you select Enable PFMODE (FLUID) Request only. Computes modal participation factors for acoustic nodes. If you select Specify, you can specify the number of lowest fluid modes that the software uses in the final output preparation of acoustic fluid modal participation factors prior to any filtering.This option corresponds to the FLUIDMP describer.
Structural Modes for Contributions Available when you select Enable PFMODE (STRUCTURE) Request only. Computes modal participation factors for structural degrees of freedom. If you select Specify, you can specify the number of lowest structural modes that the software uses in the final output preparation of acoustic structure modal participation factors prior to any filtering.This option corresponds to the STRUCMP describer.
Panels for Contributions Available when you select Enable PFMODE (FLUID) Request only. Computes modal participation factors for structural panels. If you select Specify Panels, you can select the panels that the software uses to compute the modal participation factors.This option corresponds to the PANELMP describer.
Excitation Frequencies for Calculations Lets you specify a set of excitation frequencies for which the software processes modal participation factors.This option corresponds to the SOLUTION describer.
Filter for Printed Output Controls whether the software applies a filter to the printed output. If you select this check box, the software applies the filter to the real part of the normalized projected participation factors. The software only outputs the participation factors that pass the filter.This option corresponds to the FILTER describer.
Null Response Detection Controls whether the software applies a factor to detect null responses. If you select this check box, you can specify the power of ten that the software uses to detect a null response. If the magnitude of the total response at a selected response degree of freedom is less than 10 to the Power of Ten that you specify, then the software does not process any modal participation factors.You must specify a Power of Ten value between 1 and 31.This option corresponds to the NULL describer.
Entities for Contributions Lets you identify a set of structural degrees of freedom or acoustic nodes (one degree of freedom per node) for which the software processes modal participation factors.Select Specify to create or select a Response Contribution Set modeling object.When you define a Modal Contribution for Fluid output request, you can use the Node Selection options to select the nodes to use in the set.When you define a Modal Contribution for Structure output request, you can select a Response Contribution Set - Structural modeling object that specifies the degrees of freedom and nodes to use in the set.Select NONE to turn this output request off.
Modal Effective Mass
Enable MEFFMASS Request Specifies the MEFFMASS case control command to request output of modal effective mass, participation factors, and modal effective mass fractions in normal modes analyses.
Reference Grid Point Lets you designate the reference node (grid point) to use to calculate the rigid body mass matrix. The default is the origin of the basic coordinate system.This option corresponds to the GRID describer.
Summary Requests the calculation of the total effective mass fraction, the modal effective mass matrix, and the rigid body mass matrix.This option corresponds to the SUMMARY describer.
Modal Participation Factors Requests the calculation of modal participation factors.This option corresponds to the PARTFAC describer.
Modal Effective Mass Requests the calculation of modal effective mass.Select MEFFM to request the calculation in units of mass. This option corresponds to the MEFFM describer.Select MEFFW to request the calculation in units of weight. This option corresponds to the MEFFW describer.Select MEFFM, MEFFW to request the calculation in units of mass and weight.Select None if you do not want to calculate modal effective mass.
Modal Effective Mass Fraction Requests the calculation of the modal effective mass fraction.Select None if you do not want to calculate the modal effective mass fraction.Select FRACSUM to have the software calculate and output the modal effective mass fraction table. This option corresponds to the FRACSUM describer.
Modal Participation Factors
Modal Displacement Controls the output of modal displacement, velocity, and acceleration results. Select the Enable SDISPLACEMENT check box to output solution set modal displacement data.Select the Enable SVELOCITY check box to output solution set modal velocity data.Select the Enable SACCELERATION check box to output solution set modal acceleration data.
Output Medium Controls the output destination for the results.If you select PRINT, the software outputs the results to the printer.If you select PUNCH, the software outputs the results to the .pch (ASCII format) file.If you select PRINT, PUNCH, the software outputs the results to the printer and the .pch (ASCII format) file.If you select PLOT via DMAP, the software reports the results in the OP2 file.Note: The SACCELERATION, SDISPLACEMENT, and SVELOCITY case control commands do not support the PLOT describer as an output medium option. If you have a DMAP license, you can select PLOT via DMAP, to have MSC Nastran output the corresponding data blocks to the OP2 file. Mode Selection Lets you specify the modes for which to calculate displacement, velocity, or acceleration data.Select ALL to include all modes in the calculations.Select Specify to use the Modes table to specify the modes to include. Select None to not include any modes in the calculations.

Plate Curvature Controls the location where the software computes strain for plate elements. Computes strain at the reference plane and curvatures. This option corresponds to the STRCUR describer.Computes strain at the Z1 and Z2 locations. This option corresponds to the FIBER describer.

Energy Controls the type of energy results reported in a frequency response analysis only. This option corresponds to the ENERGY describer.Select AVERAGE to report the average energy.Select AMPLITUDE to report the amplitude of energy.Select PEAK to report the peak energy.
Threshold Select this option to suppress the output in all output files for elements that have an energy value of less than the Threshold value that you specify.This option corresponds to the THRESH describer.
Stress
Enable STRESS Request Specifies the STRESS case control command to request element stress output.
