Model and Load Pre-processing > Create a Fan Noise load and solution

6. Create a Fan Noise load or loads

Now that you have created transient blade forces, you will create a solution and acoustic load.

In the next step you create the Fan Noise load.

  1. On the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Load in the solution you just created. Right-click →New LoadFan NoiseAttach to Active Solution.

  2. In the Fan Noise dialog box, on the Data Source tab, click Browse . Select the xxx-results.sc_h5 file. Select Infer Data Set to populate the load sets.

  3. On the Fan Noise Parameters tab, click Create Modeling Object .

  4. On the CSYS Selection tab, select Inferred From File, Absolute, or User Defined to define the location and rotation axis of the fan.Inferred From FileThe software uses the fan location and axis from the input Data Source.AbsoluteYou specify the fan location and axis in absolute (X, Y, Z) coordinates.User DefinedYou specify the fan location and axis using dialog boxes and /or selection from the graphics window. To apply fan phasing, you specify the fan blade initial angular location by selecting the CSYS and rotating about the Z-axis to the desired angle.

  5. In the Fan Noise Parameters dialog box, on the Fan Parameters tab, enter the fan rotation speed in rev/min and select the Fan Type.Fan Type can be Tonal Components or Tonal and Broadband Components.

  6. Click OK.

  7. In the Fan Noise dialog box, on the Fourier Transform Options tab, select Rectangular or Hanning as the Window Type.

  8. To visualize fan location and rotation, you use options on the Ancillary Display tab. You can select the display type, color, and symbols to visualize the fan noise sources. After you have changed selections, use to display the changes.

  9. (Optional) Repeat Steps 3 - 9 to add additional fan noise sources at different locations, axes, or rotation directions.

  10. Click OK to close the dialog box.

How do I

Create a Fan Noise load and solution

  1. Import the CFD pressure data

  2. Map the CFD fan mesh to transient fan blade elements

  3. Set the fan parameters and rotation axis

4.Convert the pressure data to fan blade force

  1. Create an acoustic SOL 108 Direct Frequency Response solution

  2. Edit the solution to add Output Requests and Harmonics

  3. Edit units, solve the solution, and post process results
