Import a hard point as a selection recipe

To import a hard point as a selection recipe, you must create an XML file that contains information about the hard point. For more information, see Importing hard points as selection recipes.

Note:

When you import a hard point XML file, make sure that the appropriate model file is the work part. For example, if you import an XML file when the FEM file is the work part, and then try to replace the associated data by importing the XML file when the Simulation file is the work part, no changes are made to the selection recipes associated with the FEM file, and new selection recipes are created for the Simulation file.

  1. Choose Home tab→Utilities group→More list→Import Hard Point .

  2. Click Browse .

  3. Select the XML file that contains information about the hard point, and then click OK in the File to import dialog box.

  4. To create a new selection recipe for each hard point in the XML file, click Append. To replace the data associated with an existing selection recipe of the same type and name as the hard point in the XML file, click Replace.Note: If you click Append and a selection recipe with the same name as the hard point already exists, an incrementing number is added to the name of the selection recipe for the hard point. If you click Replace and a selection recipe of the same type and name does not already exist, a new selection recipe is created. If the specified name is already in use, an incrementing number is appended to the name of the selection recipe for the hard point. In addition, if you previously exported a point selection recipe, it is imported as an attribute selection recipe. Because the types are different, it is not possible to replace the information in the original point selection recipe. Each time you import the XML file, the software creates a new attribute selection recipe with an incrementing number appended to its name unless you change the name in the XML file to match an existing attribute selection recipe.

  5. Click OK in the Import Hard Point dialog box.

  6. Close the Information window.
