Set up multiple computers to run modules in parallel
This procedure is required only when you want to use multiple machines to run the thermal solver modules or flow solvers in parallel.
Note:
To be able to run in parallel on multiple computers, you must have the Simcenter 3D Thermal/Flow DMP license.
On Windows
You perform the setup only once on each Windows computer and then you can execute any number of parallel runs. The master computer and slave computers communicate during the parallel run using the IBM Platform MPI SMPID service.
Install TMG on all Windows computers that you want to use in parallel.TMG is located in the [software_installation]/nxcae_extras/tmg folder or in your [TMG_patch] folder when you download a TMG patch from the downloads page for Simcenter 3D Add Ons on Support Center.
Verify the following requirements on all Windows computers:The TMG version is identical. The contents of the tmg folder are identical. The path to the tmg folder is identical. This includes the drive letter. The run directory path including the drive letter is identical.Alternatively, the tmg folder and the run directory can exist on a shared network drive with appropriate privileges.
On the master computer, define the environment variable UGII_TMG_DIR to point to the tmg folder.
On all Windows computers, install and activate the IBM Platform MPI SMPID service on each computer that will execute the parallel run.You can download the service executable from the IBM website.
Start Simcenter 3D or NX.
On Linux
Install TMG on a shared network drive, which can be accessed by all Linux computers that you want to use in parallel.TMG is located in the [software_installation]/nxcae_extras/tmg folder or in your [TMG_patch] folder when you download a TMG patch from Customer Support.
On the master computer, define the environment variable UGII_TMG_DIR to point to the tmg folder.
Start Simcenter 3D or NX.
