1D Mesh dialog box
| Mesh Name | |
|---|---|
| Mesh Name | Lets you specify a name for the mesh. |
| Objects to Mesh | |
| Select Objects | Lets you select curves, polygon edges, or polygon faces to mesh. You can also select a selection recipe that contains the geometry to mesh. If you select a polygon face, the software generates a 1D mesh along each edge of that face. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Auto Chain Selection | For a selected set of edges or curves, ensures that their directions are consistent. When you select this option, the software uses the direction of the first edge or curve you select to set the direction of the other edges or curves.Note: If the direction of the selected edges or curves is not consistent, the orientation of the resulting beam elements is not consistent. For more information, see Ensuring consistent 1D element orientation during mesh creation. |
| Reverse Direction | Reverses the displayed direction of the selected edges or curves. |
| Element Properties | |
| Type | Specifies the type of 1D element to create. Available element types depend on the selected solver and solution type. |
| Edit Mesh Associated Data | Appears when you select an element type that requires the definition of additional properties.Opens the Mesh Associated Data dialog box, where you can define solver-specific properties for the elements. The software applies these properties uniformly to all the elements in the mesh. |
| Mesh Parameters | |
| Mesh Coat | Generates a special coating mesh of linear 1D elements along the edges of selected 2D or 3D elements. This 1D mesh updates if the geometry associated with the underlying 2D or 3D mesh updates or if any of the parameters of the associated 2D or 3D mesh change. For more information, see 1D element coating meshes. |
| Mesh Density by | Defines the default element size as either a ratio or an absolute size: Number — Lets you specify the total number of elements per edge to create on the selected geometry. For example, if you enter 5 and select a rectangular face, the software generates five 1D elements on each edge of the face.Size — Lets you enter the approximate size of the elements to create. For example, if you select an edge 10 mm long and specify 2 as the element size, the software generates five 1D elements along that edge. |
| Element Size | When Mesh Density by is set to Size, specifies the overall element size for the mesh.To specify the element size as a function of frequency, click the DesignLogic list and select Function to use the SizeForAcoustics function. For more information, see Element size for acoustic analysis.Examines the selected geometry and calculates an estimated element size. The Overall Element Size field updates to show this element size. |
| Number of Elements | When Mesh Density by is set to Number, specifies the number of elements to distribute along selected geometry. You can specify the number of elements as an integer value, or you can specify the number as an expression. See Expressions for more information. |
| Merge Nodes | Controls whether the software merges coincident nodes between the endpoints of two curves. The software merges the nodes if they are closer than the specified tolerance.Note: The software does not merge coincident nodes that lie on the endpoints of two polygon edges. The software assumes that polygon edges share a common topological connection, such as a shared vertex. You can use commands such as Stitch Edge to stitch edges together, if necessary. |
| Merge Nodes Tolerance | Specifies the tolerance value when Merge Nodes is selected. |
| Destination Collector | |
| Automatic Creation | When selected, creates a new destination collector for you using default physical and material properties. |
| Mesh Collector | Specifies an existing mesh collector from the Mesh Collector list. New Collector opens the Mesh Collector dialog box, where you create additional mesh collectors. |
| Preview | |
| Boundary Nodes | Click Boundary Nodes to preview the distribution of nodes on the selected geometry based on your current settings. |
