Initial velocity (LS-DYNA)
In the LS-DYNA environment, use the Initial Velocity command to define the initial rotational and translational velocities of selected nodes or bodies, such as in a crash analysis.
You can use options in the Type list in the Initial Velocity dialog box to specify the type of initial velocity to create.

| INITIAL_VELOCITY | Defines the initial rotational and translational velocities for selected nodes with respect to the absolute (global) coordinate system. | *INITIAL_VELOCITY_GENERATION |
| INITIAL_VELOCITY_GENERATION | Defines the initial velocities for rotating and translating bodies.Optionally, you can also specify a Start Time at which to initialize the initial velocities. | INITIAL_VELOCITY_GENERATIONINITIAL_VELOCITY_GENERATION_START_TIME |
| INITIAL_VELOCITY_RIGID_BODY | Defines initial translational and rotational velocities for selected rigid bodies. You select one or more physical property tables to define the rigid bodies. | *INITIAL_VELOCITY_RIGID_BODY |
