Post-processing > Displaying results in post views
Post view preferences
Manage global settings for all post views
You manage the settings for all views using the Post Processing Preferences dialog box. These global settings override the unique settings defined for specific post views.
Numeric format
You can specify the numeric format of results for the Post Processing Navigator, Identify, Annotation, and Legend options.
Scale factor
You can specify the scale factor for Annotation font options.
Legend format and placement
You can specify the placement of the first legend in a post view and whether to display multiple legends when you overlay results in a post view. Each subsequent legend appears to the right of the first legend.
Save a graph
You can select to have the software automatically save a graph as an AFU file (the storage file for table functions). The software saves the AFU file in the same location as the working part.
Filter orthogonal mode pairs
You can select to filter orthogonal mode pairs in harmonic results. When selected, only one mode in an orthogonal pair of cyclic results is shown in the Post Processing Navigator and other dialog boxes that display results. In addition, a result probe calculates its values accordingly and uses only one mode from the orthogonal pair.
Abaqus groups
You can select to import groups found in the Abaqus output database result file (odb) and display the results based on the groups.
Viewport display
You can turn on the ability to work interactively with post views. When you do, you can directly select post views in the graphics window, manipulate objects, such as annotations and legends, and access contextual right-click menus for annotations, legends, and the background. You can also set the display of a border around the active post view, and the display of highlighting around post views as you select them. Note: If you do not turn on the ability to work interactively with post views, you must select the Edit in Graphics command to manipulate objects, such as annotations.
For more information, see Post Processing Preferences dialog box.
Manage individual post views
You manage the settings for individual views using the tabs of the Post View dialog box. You can also use the commands in the Post View and Display groups of the Results tab to quickly access specific options.
Result tab
Provides options for selecting the results to display and the coordinate system, units, and scale to use.For more information, see Edit Result dialog box.
Display tab
Provides options for displaying results, such as contour type and where to display results. You can also manage cutting plane options. For more information, see Display dialog box.
Deformation tab
Controls the display options for deformations. For more information, see Deformation dialog box.
Legend tab
Controls the display of the color bar and legend text. You can specify the results range, the scale, and the spectrum. You can also specify the display of overflow and underflow results. For the legend text, you can control the numeric format of results, and display marker and text color preferences. For more information, see Legend dialog box.You can also customize the colors displayed in the color bar and the legend text.
