Adjusting solver parameters

Use Solver Parameters to improve convergence, to speed calculation time, or to adjust the solver for unusual modeling situations. The Solver Parameters dialog box displays the version number of the thermal and flow solver (TMG).

Nearly every analysis will run using default solver options. Modify these options when you need to correct convergence problems. In particular, if you experience convergence problems with a steady state flow analysis, you may need to adjust the Steady State Relaxation Time Step on the 3D Flow page.

Use the options on different pages to adjust the solver depending on the Analysis Type of the solution:

  • ThermalUses the Thermal Solver and Radiation Parameters pages.

  • FlowUses the 3D Flow Solver page.

  • Coupled Thermal/FlowUses all of the above, plus the Coupled Solver page.

Where do I find it?

To define Solver Parameters, do one of the following in a simulation:

  • In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Solution and choose →Edit Solver Parameters.

  • Choose Home tab→Solution group→Solve . On the Solve dialog box, click Edit Solver Parameters.
